Not as Bad as I Thought

I have been divorced for 4 years and my credit was pretty much trashed when my ex maxed out credit cards and stopped paying on them. It just made me sick because I have always had excellent credit.
Anyway, yesterday I had my credit report pulled and my score isn't as bad as I thought! I figured it was in the negative and didn't even want to know. But, it appears that I have established some good credit since then and it has helped! Hopefully I can continue to improve my credit over time.

yaay Stephanie! I made some mistakes when I was younger with my credit, and I'm trying now to build it back up, but mine wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either....we can improve our somewhat bad credit scores together!

Bravo - what a relief that must have been.

I was reading an article somewhere that says there are a lot of things you can do to improve your credit score. One was to keep some lines of credit open - and only use a bit of them. They made it sound like it is better to have a few things with only 25% of the line used versus just one that is maxed out.

I bet if you go to experian or one of the other agencies you could find tips on this. I remember thinking that there is more to getting up the score than just paying on time.

It is good for all of us to be aware of our credit reports - to make sure we don't have identity theft with our credit - and to make sure we stay credit worthy.

It is great that you have been able to overcome the bad stuff your exh left you with. Sorry to hear that happened to you!
