You guys all know I live in Germany and I want to come back to the STates. But where? Where should I go!

So here is the contest:

Who can win me over to their State and/or City:

You have to give me at least 4 valid reasons and one of them has to do with men. LOL

For example:

What does your city and/or state have to offer for a single mom?

Your answers might just bring you a new neighbour and wouldn't that be FUN!

DON'T move to MIssouri...it's too rural, the men are backward and controlling and it's the buck of the BIBLE BELT!

I'm moving as soon as I feel I can. ROTFL

well, guess I lose that one. :)

I already know how you feel about the Bay Area, but if you like physically fit and smart men...statistically we're doing better than other parts of the country (Yes, there are straight, fit guys, not just on Castro! Silicon Valley/Stanford/Cal lure the high IQs.) Weather wise, if you like temperate climes, we're it...no extreme heat/no extreme cold. Housing...uh, let's not bring that one up. Jobs? I think that depends on your resume. OK, back to the nice stuff...we're on the coast so you can take the girls to see migrating seabirds, sea lions, etc., we've got redwood forests, we've got wine country, we've got libraries, museums, theater, clubs. I can't wait to see what the crowd will say about where they are.

Hey Kat! You know I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Here are my top 4 reasons to check into my area (in no particular order):

  1. In ANY season, Colorado ( and the Springs area in particular) has the most incredible weather. Some cold and snow, but it melts w/in hours and it's beautiful. The heat in the summer is NOT overwhelming (average of 80 degrees) and NOT humid. So it feels just plain good. And you can get a beautiful tan QUICKLY in this altitude!

  2. The scenery and outdoor things to do are outstanding. Not only are there great hiking trails throughout the city, but we have a free nature park called The Garden of the Gods with a ton of trails and tremendous red rock formations (mountain sized. They dwarf you) that you can climb some (and the man watching/meeting out there is spectacular. ALWAYS some of them hanging around rock climbing with their gear and they love to stand and chat with pretty girls. You'd have no trouble meeting a great looking guy in fabulous shape.) The girls would love that! And you can hit the heart of the mountains in 30 minutes for more great scenery and small towns.

  3. The cost of living, while high to me (but I come from small town midwest, where it is the lowest possible) is realatively reasonable. Not sure what you're used to, but people here are pretty affluent and want for little.

  4. The school system and available health care here is outstanding!

  5. Crime rate is reasonably low. It's a very safe city for it's size

  6. I live here!

I wouldn't move to Las Vegas if I were you! LOL

It's a fun city. Constantly on the go. LOTS of things to do. LOTS of really wealthy, rich, available men. However, they are unable/unwilling to commit to an exclusive relationship as there is another silicon babe available, willing and waiting on every corner. Look for Midwestern and Southern transplants - they are your best bet! It's a REALLY transient city. People move here one day hoping to make their fortune and away the next when they realize it's not going to happen. Because it's a 24 hour town - there are several 24 hour day care facilities. Jobs in just about every field are plentiful. The cost of living is relatively low in comparison to other cities of the same size. There is no state tax. The summer is hotter than hades, the spring and fall are windy as all get out, the winter is mild - until you've lived here through 2 or 3 summers, something about living through 7 or 8 months of 100+ temperatures thins your blood to alcohol and 40 degrees is absolutely unbearable. LOL The public school system sucks. Health care sucks. We are losing gynecologists - STILL - at a rapid pace. And the ones that are staying aren't accepting new patients. Lake Mead is an absolute blast. Hiking/climbing and bouldering in Red Rock Canyon is literally world class. You can ski at Lee Canyon in the winter. TONS of great restaurants. TONS of great shows. Traffic sucks. The pollution can be overwhelming.

Honestly, if I didn't have a court order telling me I can't leave unless I leave my son behind, or a TON of REALLY GOOD family and friends here - I would move away in a heart beat. As it stands - were trying to convince my ex that Colorado is the BEST place for us to raise our son! LOL

there are several 24 hour day care facilities. ... REALLY!!! I've never heard of that. Odd concept, but it makes sense. Totally necessary.

NO! YOU as a tourist couldn't use it!

Yes, it's always used for good reasons.

Most hotels/casinos (the one I work at, the one TT works at, numerous others) have 24 hour day care facilities for their employees. So, if you are a dealer or a cocktail waitress or a housekeeper or a bakery prep chef or a front desk manager or a pit boss and you work a swing or grave shift, the daycare center is open and available for YOUR children. No child can be left at day care for any longer than 12 hours, unless there is some sort of massive emergency. If the child is left for longer than 12 hours, it is turned over to the authorities and you are charged with child abandonment. There are also 24 hour day care facilities ran by our airport, our hospitals, etc. that are open to the children of the employees.

There are many, many families here where either their is a single parent working *irregular* hours, or there are two parents who work opposing shifts that overlap.
