Okay - girls - WWYS to this one?

I have been emailing back and forth through the EH site for over a month with this one. Gut impression - I like him - he is nice, into fitness/outdoors and has a great job. But I think he is totally new to online dating and not sure what to do. So, I was hoping for help with a good answer. I want to say I think it is time for us to speak by phone and determine if we do want to meet in person. Was hoping for your thoughts. (I had just sent an email saying my hand is sore and so I cannot type that much.) Here is his note:

Hi (me),

How did you hurt your hand? I hope it's not too bad. I'll understand if you want to give it a rest for a while.

This actually brings up a thought.....I'm wondering when it's appropriate to suggest that we speak live. Frankly I'm a little unsure of this whole electronic matching thing. There doesn't seem to be any particular protocol to follow at this point. Communicating via email keeps it anonymous but is somewhat limiting. And please, don't feel pressured by my suggestion. I've been enjoying our conversation and would be happy to continue for as long as you like. Maybe you can think about while your hand heals up.

And yes, I'm in Nashville for most of this week. Looks like it may be cold and rainy. Hopefully there won't be any tornados.

Anyway have a great day and I hope your hand gets better soon.

I think he sounds nice, Judy. It sounds like from his note that he is interested in speaking with you by phone so he threw out that suggestion. I think he's trying to be respectful, and sort of testing the waters with his feelers out, to see if you are interested in talking to him over the phone. Sounds like he has got potential! I guess that what I would do is write back saying that you like the idea of talking by phone. He actually made the suggestion so it's obvious he would like to hear you in person too! So my opinion, go forth! And definitely keep us posted :o)

What would I say?

that is exactly what I did.

But the outcome is a bit disappointing on this one. He travels 3 weeks out of the month and is very very boring on the phone. Managed to complain about all of his meetings and all of his injuries. Whatever!!

But MtEverest called twice - we had so much fun on the phone - bantering and teasing - a great volley of fun conversation. He had to go 2 hours on the stair climber with a 40 pound pack on his back. And he wanted to tell me about that plus ask my advice for which heart rate monitor I use. And I teased him that he is an old fart - and also told him he needs to sit in ice so he can walk tomorrow. I don't know - we have fun.

AND I am riding with my old coach tomorrow. LOL!! he is training for a long race and so am I and we haven't seen each other in 2 years and this is fodder to tell MtEverest. And just to be friends and have fun.

Okay - and I went to the new triathlon meeting and 2 guys want to ride with me. One is married and one not - but they are fun and the same pace and you can never have too many friends and activity partners.

One thing is for sure - when you sign up for an Ironman, everyone wants to train with you because they think it is cool. So far I am liking that.

But dear heavens, the training has gotten serious - I feel like I have just passed the point of no return. My longest ride this week is 4.5 hours. There are no days off. And 5 runs, 5 bikes and 5 swims. I can't believe how much I am eating. This is a great focus for me.

Well, shoot- too bad the emailer turned out to be a dud. Who goes on complaining and griping during a first conversation???

Sounds like you had a great conversation with MtEverest. Whenever you talk about him, I sense a bit of spark in your tone. I know you are catious about being optimistic, reasonably so when just getting to know someone but none the less you do seem happy to talk to him, and reservedly optimistic ;o)

Good Heavens

Thanks Pac!! I am trying to be cautious and have fun. And not jump into something too soon or get my hopes up too soon. But I do like MtEverest!

Bravo for balancing that spark with a lot of other candidates, lest it flare up too quickly and burn out.

Okay girls - little update here - MtEverest just called and we chatted quite a bit and flirted. And he wants to see me again so I said I will have to tell you when I don't have DS. And he said that is a good start.

I was a bit bad and said I was out riding with my friend who used to be my personal trainer - LOL!!!!!! I am sure that got his curiosity up.

The personal trainer used to be a big huge crush but now we are just friends.

Are you doing "THE" Ironman? My sister does that one every year. I think this is the 12th year running for her. She's INCREDIBLE. I'll have to see if I can find a pic of her. AMAZING endurance! She travels all over the world to compete as well.
