I would like to submit the following:

"Human males are identical to every other male of every animal species on the planet. They are strongly, even singularly, driven by hormones and the urge to procreate. It is obvious that nature indented it this way.

Given this, what is so hard to accept about this? Is it that humans are supposed to be above this kind of force?

Health benefit or not, I'm not really interested in trying it. I have a fear of going out on a boat in the ocean, and one reason is that I might end up stuck out there and having to drink my own urine, then my urine would run out and eventually I'd be eaten by sharks or shriveled up by the sun. None of that sounds appealing to me.

Wow. Active imagination! ;) And yeah, not so appealing. I often think of being stuck on a lifeboat in the middle of nowhere and dying of thirst (which I imagine would be one of the WORST ways to go. I hate being thirsty!) but I never thought of having to drink urine. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard countless stories of someone being stuck in the ocean and the only way they survived was by drinking urine. Before this thread, I thought that was the only reason one would do it. But the wonderful knowledge of the people on this board have proven me incorrect :)

ROTFL!!! You crack me up.

But in all seriousness, I think this is all MUCH MUCH more than I ever wanted or needed to know. Ignorance can be bliss...

Ignorance is bliss... unless your stuck on a boat lost in the ocean and you are really really really really thirsty.

I am grossing myself out, but I'm going to hit post anyway.

In fact, it is only humans that have a recreational side to sex. All other animals are limited to procreational purposes.

Actually that's not true. Bonobos have a heck of a lot more frequent sexual behavior than humans, regardless of estral season. They have male to female, male to male, female to female, rubbing, touching, genital to genital rubbing...a whole range of behavior including intercourse. It's a social tool, recreational, not related to procreation.

And a dog who humps the legs of people male/female indiscriminately isn't reacting to a procreational impulse, if he's thinking at all. But it's probably instinct and domination related more than anything.

Animals whose sexual behavior is only seasonal are procreation driven, NOT sex drive. Sex is just the vehicle (like your penis and delivery argument).

So if anything, humans are more sexually driven than other animals on this planet.

If humans are sex driven, it's NOT procreation...it's enjoyment. And then you'd have to say they're "fun" or pleasure driven, which blows the "we must spread seed" argument all to hell. You're talking apples and oranges, and you've just told us that humans and animals are VERY different. :)

Arguing, discussing, debating...it doesn't mean there's malice.

If I'm being a "brain" it's not because I'm acting or trying to make anyone feel like any less.

If I challenge you to look something up, great. If you just want to throw something in and have it accepted, you know me better than that. That's not being rude, it's being honest.

I'm not arguing all cultures are alike, certainly not. Never would.

I'm arguing with excusing any kind of

I agree with you that we are driven by the desire for sexual pleasure - but the whole reason we are built to want to have sex is so that we will procreate. We are designed so we don't have to conciously choose procreation (although we've messed with that a bit) but so that we will choose pleasure which causes procreation (the end result of life continuing is achieved whether we want it to or not).

What you are saying is not fact, what I am saying is not fact. It's all STILL being debated all over the world and studied. Sooooooooo, we are at a tie dear lady. I didn't asked to be challenged. You want to challenge me, that's fine, but ask nicely, don't go below the belt and you did. End of story, we're even. Now I'll take my crayons to a different post on the board.
