OMIGOD!!!!
There is a yummy looking black gentleman that I've seen at Barnes and Noble before. He's SO good looking, and we've flirted before but didn't speak, but I hadn't seen him for awhile. He was there tonight. OMIGOD!
He's a HUNK! He's black, like dark chocolate, great mouth, full lips and he's muscular and broad shoulders. My ideal guy. I'm so GLAD HE EXISTS! And tonight he talked to me...THERE IS A GOD!
So, I did the flirting thing, so did he. As I was throwing away our trash he smiled and said hello, I said hello..and then I had to go because I had to pick DD13 up and take her home.
We came back because DD15 wanted to read more Manga (bless that child). He was leaving!!! I drove by him in the parking lot and then parked. We went back to the table we were at before and DD15 said "If he comes back in I'm going to laugh so HARD!" He DID, he came back in...she did have to stifle some laughs.
I went to put magazines back and look at books a couple of times, thinking he would have a chance to come talk to me if he wanted. Once he did come after me, but I got back to the table too soon, so I got up again and then he came right away and he said "I thought I would just come say something to you." He put out his hand, introduced himself and asked me my name. I said "we have been flirting for awhile, haven't we?" He said he remembered seeing me there before. We shook hands, his name is Grady and he works for an insurance company here, but is looking for something else. He's been in town about 16 months. He mentioned he'd just had some kind of surgery (his leg might have been bothering him) so he hadn't been there in awhile either. He wanted to know when we were usually there, I told him on weekends usually because of my grad class. And I told him we do Karate two nights a week. He asked what kind and I finally remembered the name of it. I was so DAZED! Deer in the headlights. He's GORGEOUS! I hope he's not a slimeball.
He asked about my degree, and what I wanted to do with it. He asked if that was my daughter I was with and said we seemed really close. I said yes, we have a lot of fun together (we were laughing our butts off over a book about obsessive love and tips on stalking! which was even more hilarious because of the situation!).
He said "so did you ever intend to say anything?" I said "well, when you said hello I said hello"...I know I was blushing like crazy, DAMNED white skin! I hope he didn't think I was an idiot. I told him I was glad he did say something.
He said he's taken Tai Chi before and liked it, and thought about doing it again but didn't find a teacher here. He likes Asian things (Chinese things he said). He's there about an hour every evening because he's trying to read the Star Wars book before the movie comes out (he's on chapter 13). He said he just hung around tonight to see if I said anything. And he asked if I saw him in the parking lot and if I drove by on purpose. I said "maybe..."...and smiled. I told him we had to go pick up my other daughter and take her home, but we came back so my daughter could read manga.
I guess if he thinks I'm a stalker then he'd better think he is too. HE came back IN to try to talk to me.
He said "well, maybe we'll see each other here again" and I said "maybe we can exchange numbers sometime". He patted his pockets and said "I don't have anything on me"...I said "I don't either"...hmmm.
So, he's well spoken, educated...has a full time job (computer analyst), and GORGEOUS! Did I mention he's GORGEOUS! I hope he's not a jerk! I guess I'll probably see him again. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could this happen to ME!!!!!!!!!! I guess it did. It was great fun. I'm glad I didn't say anything to him before.
I've been thinking I want a hunky black man who I could do karate with....wouldn't THAT be fun foreplay! OMIGOD!
Do you think I'm nutso!!!!!
I think I am. :)
I'm going to bed, but I'm sure I won't go to sleep...sheesh. And I'm sure tomorrow I will be able to look at this more rationally...right now it's just fun.
Had to share...hope you're laughing your butts off.
Candi

Me too, but I don't think I'll go back tonight. I need some time to digest the whole episode. And I don't want to be too eager. I want to savor this.
;)
Not laughing my butt off, but a little jealous! I've not had that particular rush in a loooooong time, but I remember it well. ;)
Glad it was so fun. DID you exchange numbers after all? I am sure you're "flirtation" will continue, but you ought to ask him for coffee sometime soon.
No, we didn't. I'll have a business card in my pocket next time.
You know, one day last fall he did walk out after my daughter and I left the store...I think he almost said something then. LOL...
He said last night that he "used to see me there on Sundays, but hadn't for awhile"...that puts it at December or so...before I started trimming down from karate...he was flirting plenty then. *giggle*...
I guess if he was a stalker or a rapist he would have made his move already... ;)
It sounds like fun flirting, but it's a little odd that he didn't ask for your phone number. If he wanted to get to know you better, he would have given you his card or something.
Don't get mad at me, but I think it's a red flag that he said he works for an insurance company but is looking for something else. That means, his job is a job and not a career. If a man is my age or older, I expect him to tell me he has a career...like I do.
The flirting without a purpose is a red flag too. He flirted and flirted and didn't ask you out. He's not shy because he did talk to you. He might be the kind who flirts with bunches of women.
I'm not mad. Trust me, I've thought of all those things. I tend to overanalyze if anything. But what difference does it make really? It was a fun experience. If I never see him again it won't make a bit of difference. I am not putting any heartstrings into motion here.
I did wonder about the number. Possibly he wasn't ready to get into that. I'm not sure I would have given him mine last night. Maybe he wants to go slow. Or possibly he's involved. I did think of that and I'll keep my eyes open. He didn't have a ring on, tonight or any other time, and I've never seen him with someone. I'll have that kind of information for certain long before we do anything but have conversations. I'm NOT scoping men out for relationships right now. I just want to know them, period. If one of them wants to take it further...they'll have to go there.
He has a career, he is a computer analyst. He doesn't want to work for this particular company, I don't fault him for that. The fact that he's still working for them and not on unemployment is a plus if you ask me. And even though he is looking around he's been at this job about a year and a half. People change "careers" an average of 8 times during their working lives...I don't see that in itself as a red flag. If he makes a habit of it, yes...but I don't know about that yet.
And I guess I wasn't clear. We flirted a couple of times (twice that I remember) and then he didn't see me around, because I started going to the iglesia on Sunday evenings. And all of those times I was with my daughter. I think it would be very difficult to approach someone with their kids and flirting twice without speaking is not going too slow, in my book. This is the first time I've seen him there for several months. And his flirting was not purposeless this time. Maybe he thought I was "just flirting purposelessly". Maybe he's used to women speaking first...not my problem. He'll have to deal with me on my terms.
I know you're smart. It sounds like fun. It was rare that anyone ever flirted with me. I come across as super serious :)
Men seem to warm up to you. Must be nice.
I'm friendly and a big flirt. I've decided if they misinterpret it's their problem.
And like the post above, if he's looking for a bed buddy, he will be soooorely disappointed.
He really didn't sound like it though. Maybe he's had a rough time finding someone as wonderful as me. ya never know! :)
