This is WAY OFF TOPIC...but I need some advice..
The day of my wedding, I hired my sitter to watch my sisters kids ages 7 & 4 during the ceremony and then after the wedding she is staying with my kids over night till about 10:00 AM. I originally told her that I would pay her $100 to $150 for the night starting at 5:00pm working till 10:00 AM... What do you think is a fair rate? She charges $8.00 per hour...but what about when the kids are sleeping? Should I pay her $8.00 or should I cut that in half? Plus we are paying for her room and her meal, should that be a factor? I don't know...I am dire need of help on this...I don't want to cheat her.
Lori

Lori, how old is she?
If this is a 15ish girl, this is a FORTUNE not to mention the free room an food thrown in. On second thought, I doubt I'd pay ANYONE more than that.
Sounds very fair to me. You have left the "hourly" realm and entered into a contract with her. Did she sound agreeable to this or are you concerned and "rethinking" what you already told her.
I guess I am rethinking because..oh, I don't know... She is fine with it too and I just want to make sure she is compensated because she is SOOO good to mine and Jay's kids.
Thanks,
Lori
Have fun at the wedding!
Alison
I would pay her the $150.00.

Hey there
I just wanted to chime in that I agree the $150 would be money well spent (and I imagine well earned!).
