We've been dodging the bullet for years! It's been on the topic and then it just DIES! But tell me WHY is it that we can't seem to get a single parents's weekend figured out??? I've been on this board almost 5 freaking years! I say we rent a huge condo or two for a weekend in a designated spot that makes it assessible for everyone and we all pitch in! OR we have one in two locations! East and West or North and South.

WHAT DO YA'll THINK??????????? Can we get it together!? I'll be happy to be on the planning commitee! All responses say Ai or Nay.

I'm with you on the "roughing it"....

HOWEVER, if we planned for NEXT summer when it was warm again, I'd consider it.

I know we have some boardies from the middle of the states, and some from Canada, so maybe East Coast isn't all that hot an option...

Moody, in it for the laughter sure to ensue

This is to "all" but I'm posting under Moody because it's true for me- I live in the middle of the country, so a gathering on the East Coast would count me out!

But I'm not saying for you guys to NOT get together! I'm just saying I won't be able to join you! I think most of this board are Easties, so that really is probably the most likely place to have a meet-up where most of the board can attend. Just makes sense to me, really.

I'm not the roughing it type either, sorry ...

Ya know what would be good (but i have no idea the cost)... renting a beachhouse in the Outer Banks of North Carolina... my children love the beach.... Does anyone have a timeshare?

What other ideas do we have... i feel likes it's a high school reunion... or close to it. :-)

How about instead of roughing it too much.. renting a cabin in the country... i've stayed at Retreats where a few people share a room and hold seminars and fun activities..

My children would love kick ball or canoeing or volleyball.... sorta thing... Or late night scrabble games, spades or even... karaoke.. ya knew i would suggest that...for the adults. But seriously, bring the PlayStation and play Karaoke Rev... or whatever... but just meeting in person... having the children meet each other and other sorta bonding stuff....

Or what about make-overs!!

Then theres also meeting in a big city and checking out a nice restaurant and dancing for the adults and laser tag or bowling with the kids... stay one night in a holiday inn or something... And if it's a hotel... there's always the pool... my children love the pool, too.

Why didn't you think of this before school started....?

Loonybunny - who thinks it will be great to meet IRL and take the kids on vacation

We need to figure out where everyone is and then pin point a middle point. Priscilla and I once figured it out rougly to be the Carolinas. That of course is optimal for me and the girls, but I love road trips, so driving anywhere for up to 7 hours is good for me. We definitely can figure out cabin spaces that fit loads of people or a condo. Most of all, we should think of the fact that we all have the holidays coming up when the money is tightest. This would be a weekend thing, not so much a week thing. I think the Spring would be a good time. Maybe April? It would give us plenty of time to put some sock money away for a trip. Ok, I admit, roughing would be out for some of us and we want everyone to agree, but we also want to make it affordable for all. I would definitely have no problem taking a Friday off and driving to the destination to get whereever by Friday night. These are all just brainstorming ideas, but something we should really do. I have heard great and positive stories from other boards that they had a great time. Why make this all just cyber?? Lets think about how much closer we all would be if we made it real time? A total pajama party. I know some of us could use a free child weekend, but that is hard for some of us. I know I couldn't do it unless I prepared in advance. Thoughts? Maybe having too many kids would cause it all to be a little more complicating with finding a spot. I would love brainstorming and thoughts. First thing first, let's figure out where we are all located. So give me all your city and states and I can figure it out and throw some options on the table in form of location.
