Our prom weekend report

Well, MA gets an A+ for prom weekend. But not because we went to prom!!

Okay - Friday morning, I woke up and felt a bit off. Took DS to school, came home and collapsed in a heap for most of the day with nausea, stomach pain and cramps. Had to send a friend to pick up DS from school. I think it is food poisoning or a stomach flu. I mean what are the chances of THAT for this weekend!? MA sent a sweet personalized card via email that was cute and called to check on me. DS ran the house. I thought I was feeling better in the evening but at 8:30 got violently ill and then went to bed.

Friday night I was supposed to visit a dear high school friend A who was my best friend since 5th grade. For some reason we lost touch the past 5 years and she is coming into town and has been through some very tough times with her husband cheating on her (which explains our getting out of touch) and she has been separated for 3 years and trying to get back on her feet. So I was really disappointed that I didn't get to see her. She lives sort of far away.

So, Saturday morning, MA calls and now he is sick. Maybe it was our dinner spot from Wednesday? So, I make tentative plans to see my friend - I can tell she really needs to talk to me and this is okay with MA because we know he is not going out on a prom night and my stomach is not back in the saddle yet. So we decide to make our prom night the next weekend.

So, I go to see my friend A. Later on, MA thinks he is feeling better and more of our friends are getting together for a football game so we end up all having a mini HS reunion and great fun by all to go and watch it. This made me really happy that he could understand that I wanted to be with my dear friend A and he went and enjoyed seeing her again and was really into our evening which shows he is flexible and understanding. One of our classmates has terminal lung cancer and he was so glad to be there. I think it did my friend A a world of good just to get dressed up and have an adult evening. I am very worried for her. I was still "off" last night because I could only have bread for dinner. MA was the same and today he is still a bit sick.

So, if you want the prom report, you will have to wait til next weekend until we are both well!! :-)

Aw, too bad about the sickies taking over!!! But I'm glad it didn't last long for either of you.

And I guess this was another non-date because you all met up in a group, huh?? You're just loving the fact that you can keep us hanging on for that "first date" to officially happen and yet you're already exclusive! LOL (can you tell I can't leave you alone about that?!?) ;-)

Just better keep us updated on all the other non-dates you guys have all week, before your REAL DATE.

LOL!!!! Shrimps you are so funny!! Thanks for the kind words. We all had so much fun telling our stories. Most of us hadn't seen each other in like 27 years since we graduated.

And my friend A, who has a wonderful sense of humor, amused everyone with her story of how I fell down the stairs my senior year and had my books going in every direction!!

She was commenting that because earlier I was carrying her suitcase and other stuff up the stairs to her apartment and she could not believe how muscular and athletic I got. She said this is the girl who fell down the stairs when we were going to school.

The funny thing is that I am sure I did that because I am usually clumsy, but I really don't remember doing it.

Drastic flu bugs! I hope for the "real" date he doesn't take you back to the spot where you had dinner Wednesday. I bet the date this weekend will be bigger and better. Can't wait to hear about it.

Been getting caught up on the board. You are not alone. This has been a pukefest weekend all around. M and I went down to Mex for a sailing race he was doing. He was going to sail with his friend MM who has the same boat that M has. We get down to the marina and the boat still is on it's trailer-uh oh! Turns out they had a crack show up that needed fixing and in the meantime MM had become hideously ill. His wife thought it was a nasty form of Montezuma's revenge but everyone ate the same stuff and antibiotics weren't helping. I'm thinking icky virus and better not breath too close to MM. Well now I'm home again and I've got it in spite of being cautious.

Sounds like Mr Alum is just a dream date. Let's see, by the time you get to the big date you have time for oh.... 3 or 4 more practice dates.LOL

BTW, M and MM's brother D picked up a 3rd guy and sailed Sat, they were in second place. D, the new guy, and a woman from the sailing club were sailing the boat in today's race. We're waiting to hear how they ended up.

Thanks Pacific!!

I think this is great because we had a chance to connect with all of our local alumni friends and they know we are doing the prom next week and will all want the scoop. So it will make next week very fun.

One of my friends was IMing me to check in on us and see how we were doing. I really do feel like I am in HS again.
