Party Recap
Find a Conversation

The party was a blast!! The host even said... I was the life of the party (one of them, anyway)... not sure if I should be embarrassed.
I got to the party relatively early ... 8:30 p.m.. Brought a veggie dip with crackers. There was only 4 people there so far... I felt comfortable from the start, though.. and mingled with the other early arrivals. (I do better in small groups anyway). I was able to have a good conversation with the Host (who is a good looking single by the way... and one of our main anchors)... not flirting just talking. He gave a tour of his house to his first batch of guests. Then lots of people started showing up after 9:30.
I did drink more than you guys recommended... but I was watching the pacing of others, too. And I drank much less than everyone else.. I kept my wits about me. The height of the party was 11 pm - 12 am... with the most guests. I'll admit that's when I felt most uncomfortable... too many people I guess and I felt like I wasn't mingling enough.
A little after 12 a.m., I made a comment about dancing on the counter tops... I said drinking for me makes me want to sing karaoke or dance on tables.... of course everyone else thought that was a great idea.... (are some of you thinking... oh no she didn't...?)
Well, I asked the host (see, I was being rational) if it was okay to dance on his counter... He said that would be awesome... but someone else said how about after 1 am... (ya know after everyone else is drunk, I guess, or the crowd dwindles to only the true partiers... i don't know...)LOL. So I said, after 1 will be dance-on-the-tables time... LOL.
In the mean time... i joined some people outside who were singing along with a guy playing the guitar. That was loads of fun.
Then after 1... I might not have done it but I was encouraged by other partiers saying "it's after 1.... time to dance on the counter..." LOL... And to top it off a couple guys were playing a guitar PS2 game and the song happened to be one of my faves... Sweet Child of Mine... So, yes, I climbed on the counter and danced. (oh my, the pictures are embarrasing) But, at the time it was sooo much fun and funny. The people who were outside came inside to see... one guy took video... And I sang too. I tried to encourage others to take a turn, but no one else did... :-(
So that's how I got called "life of the party." The host said to me, if I'd known you would dance on my counter, I would have invited you to more parties... I said, yes, you'll have to invite me to more parties now.
And even though no one else danced on the table, the party picked up and everyone danced. It was a blast!! And I've been told the video is being posted on myspace. *blushing* It was fun to see everyone having a good time.
After the dancing, we sang with the guitar player again. One person said to the guitar player.. hey, you're better than an ipod.. because he knew a variety of tunes. I left at around 3:30 but there were many people who probably stayed til dawn...
And here's one more funny (typical me) story... As I was leaving, the host offered to walk me to my car. And I'm pretty bad with my left and right... so we started walking in the wrong direction. And I said, "where's my car? Was it towed?" He says, "no, it wouldn't be towed. Are you sure you parked this way..." Oh, I said laughing, "I parked on the other side." I was like... I'm always mixing up my left from my right. LOL. How funny, I said.
But I was embarrassed by the fact that I drive a minivan and that my car is a mess. I thanked him again for a great party. Sure it wasn't about flirting and I didn't take anything too serious (but I was probably flirting and didn't know it)... I could develop another crush on the host. Especially after finding out that he's my age (I thought he was almost 40). But at this point I'm just friends with everyone. And that's way cool. Especially since I think I'll be invited to more parties and more karaoke outings (since I found out others like to go). One guy said, he'll personally come to my work area to invite me and give me enough notice so I can set up a babysitter. That guy also invited me to their camping trip this summer. Although, I said I probably won't go because I don't like tents... but it was nice to be invited.
Oh, here's one more funny detail... at about 2 am. I was outside mingling and we could see people dancing inside. The guy who took my video(btw, I work with him everyday) says "looks like the dancing is getting dirty in there." And I said innocently, "I'm glad I don't dance" (knowing that I was the one who danced on the counter)... And he says... oh yes you do, I've got the video. LOL. Fun times. I'm sure there are many more details... but we'll leave it at that...

Glad you had fun! I wish I worked with people like your co-workers... wait, no, no I don't. My workplace is a bit staid and stodgy, but it's easy to differentiate it from the rest of my life.
It sounds like everyone had a great time.
Moody, not dancing on any countertops any time soon

That kind of party would never happen with my co-workers. Nothing even close to it. If there was dancing or excessive drinking at an office party, it would sabotage careers in my office.
Sounds like QUITE an evening! And OMG that you danced on the countertop! And they got it on video! Be ready to make a reappearance on some company blooper film if your company does anything like that... :-O
But I'm glad you had fun, and remember all the details (because we love details!)! Sounds like some of the wild parties I used to hear stories about when I worked as a paramedic/ER nurse. I never went to any of them, but I'd hear all about them when I got back to work the next week!

Oh, I know... I was hearing lots of comments on Monday. But I'm not embarrassed... at least not yet... maybe I will be if I see the video.
One person says... "hey you were dancing on the counter" and I said laughing "want my autograph". Then I see him later in my work area and he says... don't dance on the desk. And I replied. "oh no, not at work. I'm a professional." lol
Someone else said "did you have a good time at the party? The video is going on the web page." And I said, yes, I had a blast.
So, hmmmm, I wonder how long I'll hear about it ... but I think it was a good thing. My thinking was that I was just soooo happy to have a night without the kids. I surely wanted to enjoy myself. But thanks to all the advice here, I didn't make a real fool of myself by hitting on any of my coworkers. Some other coworkers were dancing dirty, but I stayed away from that.... Making a fool dancing is totally different than making a fool hanging on all the guys.
And I counted the next day and there are MANY single guys that I work with... I danced with 3 of them (in fun). But there are almost 10 total. I did drop the hint to a female coworker to keep an eye out for me since I'm single. She said, "interesting." I alway see her trying to set people up.... I'll let you know....
It sounds like you were one of the lesser wild ones. Maybe you will get a spot on their TV show!!??
It is good that you got out. And good that you were not hitting on the single guys.
