Playing hookie today ;)

I decided to play hookie today. I've been dating a guy that I work with for over a year and now all of a sudden our relationship has been "outed". There has been mostly negative reactions and people that are my "friends" are now coming up to me and saying things and asking me a lot of questions that I don't feel comfortable discussing. On top of that my 14-year-old daughter is acting like an uber rotten teenager and I don't know what to do.
Sooooooooooooo today I called in sick, got the kids off to school and now have "me" time. The kids are with their father the next two nights. Today I drank coffee, surfed the internet AND tried out a pilates class at the gym. Usually I'm into the high adrenaline things like running, biking, skiing and lifting weights so this was a little different, BUT surprisingly challenging. I have tons of time left to myself before I head over to my guy's house so I'll probably fold towels, read and possibly nap a bit.

Try not to let the gossip mongers at work get to you - they will move on to another issue before you know it. Good luck with your daughter - children at all ages can be challenging but I remember my own turbulent teenage years - hang in there.
Enjoy your break....I think "Me" time is way under-rated. At my work we can take up to three "hookie" days per year.... it's all a part of good mental health.
Enjoy!
Rose
So what does your guy think about being "outed" at work?
Have fun with your day off!

We also get three hooky days at work, I'm thinking of taking one tomorrow. We don't have a strict attendance policy, but I hate calling in or taking time off because there's always so much to be done when I get back.
It's funny, we all get several weeks' vacation a year, and a week's worth of floating holidays on top of the vacation and sick time, and then the three hooky days- I could easily take a month off without using up all of my time, but taking the actual time leaves you so behind at work, I rarely use it all in a year.
However, summer is a slightly slower season for us, so I'm taking a week off in July and another in August.
I don't have any plans for tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to just relaxing at home by myself. It'll be a great way for me to de-stress, as weekends are always busy.
I think "me" time is grossly underrated, and not enough employers understand that. I'm lucky that mine does, as sometimes I simply need to be away from that place!
Moody, thinking playing hooky never sounded so good
