Find a Conversation

Ok...I broke down and signed up for Match (I didn't think I would ever do that again). Eharmony just isn't doing anything for me and darn it I want a date. So reading Momlittlestar's updated profile (which by the way is awesome and so you) I realized that mine is really lacking. So here is what I have:
I am looking for a great friendship along with a few sparks, mutual respect, and compassion. I value family and relationships. I am a bit introverted with an understated sense of humor (the more comfortable I am with someone the more witty I become) I want to explore life and real connections. My perfect match would be secure, stable, strong-minded, and compassionate. I value intelligence with approachability. (an offbeat sense of humor would be icing on the cake)
Generic, huh??? I am a bit stuck. Also, should you wait for someone to contact you or initiate with a wink or email? There are a couple of guys with real potential or least on their profile. Also, can you block or hide your profile from certain users? I am embarrassed to see some coworkers and acquaintences up there and want to avoid some awkwardness (mostly that one would show interest as I am so not interested)

Savannah, the MOST important part of your profile is great photos- after that it's almost moot what you WRITE, because pics do say a thousand things that a profile can't.
Good luck with match.
I agree with Alison..photos are everything. Hey, when i'm searching photos are key.. cuz i get tired of reading all the info anyway and that all starts to look the same after a while... BUT the photo can really catch someone's attention.
Plus, i would think short and to the point descriptions are better than lengthy stuff.
but then, i don't do online much so i may not have the best advice there.... Glad you are getting out there!!

draft II...
Ok...I am taking a leap of faith and trying this out. Me, I am often described as poised, calm and elegant but my friends might disagree. I laugh easily and prefer to surround myself with those who don't take themselves too seriously but can get serious when the occasion arises. I have a son who keeps me in stitches; he keeps me young and reminds me not to get worked up over the little things. I may appear quiet but believe me I can hold my own in most situations. I am looking for someone who is happy and who enjoys their life and job but knows that family and relationships are far more important. He should be solid in his value system but recognize and accept the differences in others. I want someone who can have great conversation regarding world issues, religion, art, etc... (I have opinions and sometimes I just want to talk about them). I value intelligence with approachability. (an offbeat sense of humor would be icing on the cake)
Yes...still needs work. Input? I am working on the pictures my old computer crashed so I have to upload some photos but I know I can find some pretty good ones.
That sounds like a better glimpse into who you are.
The only change I would make would be to "I laugh easily and prefer to surround myself with those who don't take themselves too seriously but can get serious when the occasion arises."
To me it sounds too contradictory and makes me wonder if you really want someone who's serious or someone goofy. "I laugh easily and prefer to surround myself with upbeat people" is a better twist to me.
Will you share your pics with us?
I wouldn't get to caught up in your description, guys only care about the pictures and what you look like.
Many surveys on men who do old, show that if they like what they see, then they will read the rest
of the profile or not at all. Men are visual/superficial creatures. It's all about if you have the "right look"
that will determine your old success.
Hey you!
I think you should add Al's changes and go with it (with the recommended pics of course!)
Well, I just got my first reject email.
Congrats on getting out there. And your first email senial was at least a nice guy! I like your profile, and I think you'll be meeing some great guys in to time. Keep it up!!!
