Q- helping out

And no Moony, it's not about ME this time:

Wanted to know your thoughts about having a partner help out around your place. When you're just dating, in a relationship or living together.

A friend of mine has been dating a guy for 6 months now. He's at her place a lot, and barely pitches in to help cook or clean up after, or get groceries. They don't go out on "dates" so much anymore, since they've fallen into the more familial roles. Her kids asked the other night why he didn't have to help clean up when they were all supposed to be tidying up.

So my question is, how much should your partner help out? It's not their house, their kids or their food... but at what point should they pitch in?

Thoughts?

I have dumped a few over this issue - and vow never to play house again for this reason. But at the very least, they better pitch in and help with the dishes if I have them over for dinner. I would bring that up the first time I cook - to hand them the dishes while I am scraping them!! Train them in right the first time!! I want someone who believes in a team effort.

From the very beginning, SEV has been a helper - remember, he came and fixed my light fixture, toilet and skillet handle?

BE always wants to help out. If he comes over for dinner he asks if he can bring the groceries, cuts up the veggies, makes a salad, prep, stuff like that. He like to be helpful. He fixes things and I put him to work ;o)

At his place, he usually cooks and then we do dishes together. I find that we just naturally do things about 50/50. I would resent the heck out of a guy who just sat there like somekind of entitled king or was just lazy. He woudlnt last long!
