What makes your holiday meal special?

Well, no 2 Christmas dinners have ever really been alike. At least not recently. I alternate the Xmas holiday with my DS between me and my exh. So one year I have him (this year thank goodness) and one year I don't. Some of those years are spent at my moms and some at my house and some with friends. Even when I was married it was always different - because we both worked in a hotel and some long hours so meals were standing at a table with coworkers and running around working at the same time.

Anyway, let's see. Usually Xmas dinner is like Thanksgiving. Sometimes it has had seafood. And I think that is what my mom is making - she is making ham and salmon. DS was going to have me make this snowflake pie - like the Dominoe's Oreo pizza - but now he has changed his mind and demanded chocolate eclairs from scratch. That is no small feat! You see, I made those in practice for a test once and he remembers and says he dearly loved them - which he did he had them for breakfast, in his lunchbox and for a snack and dessert. OMG.

Okay - One year I did make a Thanksgiving dinner plus homemade Baked Alaska - that was one of my favorite dinners - do you think I am biased because I made it? LOL!!

The worst Xmas was when I was sick on the night before Xmas eve with a bad stomach flu and on Xmas eve I was up all night again with a sick baby. And the next morning my mom was mad at us for ruining her Xmas. I understand now it was more like a disappointment - but the whole thing was not fun. I can also think of a few when I was without DS that I wanted to pretend it was not Xmas.
