Are you going to be one of them that will take the plunge? May not be a bad idea especially since you will be lacking in sleep. That would certainly wake you up!

Sounds like a great time.

No plans for New Year's. I've never been a big New Years partier anyway. Kinda like going through a birthday... you make a big deal of it, but then you wake up the next day and it's just another day. (I know- cynical) So I just don't make a huge deal of those things anymore! It's just another day, another reason to celebrate or have CAKE... and I really could do that ANY day, right?!? (and many times, I DO! lol)

I like to just make every day a time when I can do something new, not just diving in gung-ho on that one day, and then losing steam before the month is over and then going back to the old ways again anyway!

I'm usually in bed by the time midnight rolls by (I know- ho hum) but I don't mind. I'm just not a big partier anymore!

No date planned for New Years, unless Hiker plans something and comes over. It would be nice to spend the "ball drop" in the throes of a heated horizontal mambo... never done THAT before! lol That goes way beyond that simple kiss though, does it not?!?

As far as resolutions or solutions go... no weight

I don't know what it's like to lose a parent (knock on wood that I don't have to for a long time), so I cannot empathise with your pain- but I feel so sad reading your story.

Thanks, R- I knew YOU would for sure understand it, since You're living with the same thing. ((((((((((R)))))))))) I'd like to think that maybe your mom and mine might meet up in heaven sometime, and not even know that they have a connection through us.

But yeah- those "firsts" with things, they really can hit hard. :-(

Thanks Alison- and sorry for making your uplifting New Year's thread such a downer!

But I do know what you mean- and I do take pictures "for mom". My dad 'gave' her a geocoin that is actually, physically buried WITH her, and

Awww Shrimps, I am coming in late to this one - I am sorry to hear of your grief with your mom. That must be so so hard. The holidays are really sort of a bitter sweet time for so many people who are missing family members or who have other tragedies or hard times in their lives. I just made a comment to your other post about your trip from you know where.

I hope that your days get better now that the holidays are over. I think your dad's idea to put the coin with her were great and it is wonderful you have a place to post thoughts and memories. That is truly the best you can do. Alison's idea to take pix is good. I never would have thought of those things.

I guess it is posts like this that make us all stop and think what we are happy for in our lives. So many times there are so many trivial life events that can put us down when really we forget to see the whole picture that we and our kids are doing well and that is everything in my boat.

I can see, too, where the rest of the stuff you posted has a heavy weight on your mind. But I know how logical and level headed you are and I have full faith that you will sort it out with time. And we will appreciate your stories along the way. I don't really have advice because I know you are the best one to decide what is right for you.

Thanks Judy! It's all a bit too much drama at once, but what can I do?!? But I am trying to live in the moment for the most part and make memories with Dad while I still can, and remember all the stuff we did with Mom, too.

I'll post more in
