DS only goes to a few houses I trust - mostly we have the sleepovers here because the other parents are not as energetic as me and don't like to get up early. The kids know they eat good, swim in a very warm pool and have fun. Mostly it is one neighbor boy who stays here.
I don't know what I would do with girls? That is a tough call!! I am still tired and the floor is still dirty from this weekend!
I would think you have to have one rule and stick to it.
Another thought - just because they don't sleepover doesn't mean they can't have friends over to have fun. We do movie nights, dinner buffets, swims and more and often they don't sleep over.
Maybe in your case - party is okay - but sleepover is not okay?+
Neither of my kids have had or gone to a lot of sleep-overs.

This is likely where I will have to start for now.....Like you are doing with your son, all of my sleep-overs were two doors down the street at my neighbours home and I remember having a blast.
I guess, as you can tell, I really have no advise for you, just letting you know that I know where you are coming from...I have similar issues here!
I believe that my ex is concerned about molestation etc. so I have a feeling this is not something we will likely be able to out-grow either.
...but I'm not comfortable letting my kids go to another house for sleep overs... can't really explain it. It's just all about my comfort level.
I totally understand.
I can only think of two households in which I would trust my DD.
