How long do you usually talk to someone through e-mail and im before moving to the phone. I have been talking to a guy on match for about a week and we have only e-mailed. I don't want to move to quickly and I always seem to jump the gun on the phone thing. Any thougths on a good time frame?

I think a week is good. But I sort of wait for the guy to progress - and that is usually when we hit it off with fun things to talk about and a lot in common. Some of them are not good at typing so they want to go to the phone faster!! Hopefully he asks you soon or you can always give him your cell number I suppose. Keep us posted.
I look forward to hearing what everyone else says about this, too.
Personally, I like to meet them face to face as soon as possible, so that way I know if there's something there that I might want to explore further or not...
I'd be happy with a week, too, but it's not up to me.
I usually played it by ear. If it was really clicking with email or IM, I wouldn't hesitate to chat on the phone. If it was simply not gelling, I would either never talk on the phone, or wait much longer to see if it would gel.
With funnyguy, we chatted on the computer for about a month, almost nightly, before talking on the phone. He was VERY good about respecting boundaries, and I was ready to give up on dating. One night, I had a lot of things to do and couldn't sit at my computer but wanted to talk to him. So I sent him my number with the info that I was too busy to chat but could talk.
He called, and we've spoken daily since.
Maybe try IMing before moving to the phone, but really, I honestly don't want to drag it out if it's going well. Better for me to get the phone and then first meeting if we're going to have one out of the way early on before I'm too invested only to find it doesn't work out.
Just me, though. I'm a jump the gun kind of girl.
Moody, happy to not be doing OLD anymore

Be very careful about IMing..... One of my friends is an IT Security guru, and I learned that Instant Message systems open up doors for a Bad Guy to exploit - they can hack into your hard drive very quickly.
