QB- I LOVE The JD Robb series too. (But don't like her romance books written under her real name Nora Roberts.). I mainly read murder mysteries/ crime, & some fantasy series, & have lots of favourite authors- Sue Grafton, PJ Tracy, Peter Robinson, Dick Francis, .....
Sweetkymom- I LOVE Janet Evanovich & even met her a few years ago :o)
I read like crazy. Just read a series of self help stuff. Before that was Scar Tissue which I highly recommend. Still in the middle of Clapton autobiography which is good too. Read a bunch of Sharon Creech's books. My daughter asked me to read them and they are wonderful. Of course the Harry Potter series. Read the Traveling Pants series and couldnt put them down. Then I liked Ultra Marathon Man by Dean Karnazes and both of Lance Armstrongs books.
If you enjoy histoical fiction....try Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. I could not put them down. My new favorite author is Sarah Addison Allen. She wrote Garden Spells and Sugar Queen ...both excellent, fun reads. Enjoy
Oh yes. I love historical fiction. Patrick Obrian is my favorite. Have read about 11 of his so far. They say he is the most historically accurate fiction author out there.
Every couple of years there is Writer's Week here in Adelaide (South Australia) as part of the Festival. Authors from all around the world come & talk. It's FANTASTIC. It's in summer in the parklands under large open tents. Apart from Janet Evanovich, I have seen Sue Grafton one year, John Berendt, Ruth Rendell, Val McDermid ..... & many more! ALL of them were excellant speakers & had the audience in stitches.
I love historical fiction as well - have read all of Jean Auel's books. I also like biographies - and in the airport bookstore (which always has great reads) I almost got the one "Stolen Innocence" or "Escape" - each by a polygamy survivor. But right now I have too many I am in the middle of - "Tipping Point" and "Happier" and some others.
I have also taken a sort of hobby on with photography - and just got a new instructional DVD - but that probably doesn't help you unless you have the same interests!!
I just read "I Love You, Beth Cooper", which was just as good as all the reviews said it was. Everyone should read it. It's about a valedictorian who declares his love for the head cheerleader in his valedictorian speech. Tomorrow I'll read "Lord of the Flies" for work, which I haven't read since high school and loved, and I'm currently in the middle of the new David Sedaris book, as well as "Nudge", which is a brilliant book that explores why people make the decisions they do. Also, I have "The Garden of Last Days" by Andres Dubus III lined up for my vacation read in a few weeks. Great books everywhere.
