Ready for the Weekend

Something really cool happened at work today. I just started this job in the middle of June. When I was hired, I was told that I could not take a day off until I had been with the company for six months, which would be January. I went to pick up my paycheck from our HR director. We were talking about weekend plans. I am going camping with the kids at a place not to far from where she lives. It's a Jellystone Park, and how they work a holiday weekend is that you have to book from Friday to Monday. Well, by the time I get out of work on Friday, and ready to go, I decided to skip Friday night and head out Saturday morning, because I did not want to pitch a tent in the dark. I was explaining this to her, and she said, "why don't you leave early on Friday". I told her that I couldn't because I just started and I couldn't have any time off until January. I said, besides, everybody and his uncle will want to be off the Friday before a holiday. She said there were not many people who requested off for Friday. She looked some stuff up on the computer, I could take a 1/2 personal day, but she would check with the office manager. Within a half hour, she was by my desk with a request form, it was approved by my officer manager, all I had to do was get the form signed by who I worked for and get it in today, and it was a done deal. HOW COOL IS THAT!

I used to camp a lot with my exh with family and friends before I had kids. I had never been camping with my kids. My ex-brother-in-law told me about this place that was really good. So, two weeks ago, me, my kids and my two nieces tried it, but just overnight. Much to my surprise, my kids LOVED it. So, I decided to book the same place for the holiday weekend. Considering all the BS that I have been through over the last week, you cannot even imagine how happy I am to be getting out of town this weekend. It will be just me and the kids. I CAN'T WAIT. Leave all the BS behind, and I don't have to cut it short at all now, thanks to work.

It truly is the simple things in life that make me happy. See, I'm totally estatic -- and it has nothing to do with a man!

Does anyone else have any good plans for the long holiday weekend?

That is very cool - I love camping - the tent, the smell of the trees, the campfire, the whole 9 yards!! It will do you wonders, I am sure. I am very thankful for you that you have the kids the whole weekend and are not alone.

I have not made plans yet - don't know what exh is doing - he has been travelling for 3 or 4 weeks and has only seen ds one or two times.

I am sure I will swim bike run - clean the house. Nothing too earth shattering!!
