Rebecca!! What a story in the other thread. He hid the ring in the SAFE? Then what happened - this is a good story and you have to share. Even though it went awry with the drinking - he did have some good qualities - so this is a good one for us. Do tell! LOL!! I just couldn't leave that gem hidden in that other thread!!

Sorry, just saw this.

I had a beautiful 1+ ct diamond from my Gramma who had passed away when i was 16 & i was VERY close to her.

X & i were living together & always planned on using that diamond in my engagement ring. We had seen our jewler & I basically gave him ideas of what i didnt want, so X could design what he wanted, but i would sstill like it, lol.

great story... I never got a nice ring for either marriage..sigh.... next time (if there is ever a next time) I'm definately insisting on a ring and expensive wedding.... if he doesn't think i'm worth it, then i guess the whole marriage isn't worth it....

\because i've spent way more money on my divorces than i have on my weddings.... why... because the divorce was worth it.... that's just backwards to me....

the ring is beautiful.

Great story and the ring is beautiful.

I didn't get a nice ring either and at the time it didn't really bother me.

OOH this is a good topic coming out of this post. What has everyone done with their rings? I have thought about resetting mine as well. It was a nontraditional ring but there is a beautiful pearl and two very good quality diamonds on the side. I was expecting my DS when we got engaged and I associate the ring with him now more than anything. But I havent made any steps to make a new piece of jewelry - maybe we all should. After al the commitments we have all made to our children from those relationships are wonderful ones that have brought us lots of joy!

what to do with the old rings.... HA HA

Here's what happened to the first.... the diamond just fell out one night and i never found it... no big deal it was the tiniest diamond i ever saw and he never "upgraded" it like he said he was going to... the bands were cool though, but i let him keep it...

My second ring, i bought at walmart... and yes, i bought them.... the day of the wedding just to have something that day... they looked like the expensive ones... but they were cheap as sh*t.

His band broke... and as for mine.... I smashed it with a hammer... never even got a diamond engagement that time.....

ya know, when i was in love it didn't matter at all to me ... but that should have been a clue.

sorry if i sound a little bitter... i forgive him.

I know for him the size and appearance of my ring was a direct reflection of his manliness.

LOL....I guess its a good thing I never got one from CP....you would have needed a telescope to see it...yes I said tele not micro

Hmmm let me revise that yet again... perhaps one of those SUPER HIG POWERED microscopes like on all the CSI shows...you know that can find decades old cockroach butt juice

Neat question- as it's interesting to hear what ideas there are for the old rings...

Mine is in a ring box, back in a drawer. I'm not sure WHAT to do with it. There's the engagement ring part, and the wedding band "set" part of it that wraps around the engagement ring (I know there's gotta be a technical jewelry term for that, but I'm not a jeweler!)... and I really liked the baguettes on the wedding ring wrap-around part. It was a typical setting of its time (90's).

Rebecca- your ring and setting was gorgeous! I like simple rings like that.
