Shrimps, don't be too hard on yourself for gaining weight during your Mom's illness and after.
- your age
Thanks, Soonee!
I'm not knocking or kicking myself for gaining weight last year, really. I think I'm mostly just aggravated at how EASY it was to gain and how hard it is to get it off! You can gain easily by not being vigilant in the kitchen- and going crazy with food choices or portions (the portions matter more than choices many of the time, IMO). You can gain easily by not having the motivation to just get UP and do some sort of exercise (including something as simple & easy

- age: I'm 36 and psyched about making things happen this year
- kids: 2 girls- Alex 14, Nina 7
location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Dating status: TOTALLY LOOKING, trying to figure out a different strategy then online. I have a very cool vibe about this year. Something in the air tells me this might be the year, because my horoscope has BEEN SO ON T with everything else. I mean TOTALLY spooky stuff.
Job: I'm a Manager for North America Meeting and Events for the biggest techi consulting company in the world. My department in M & E is reservations/registrations and communications. I went to Chicago on Thursday and they dropped the bomb that they want me to roll out global. This is HUGE and my career is at a serious take off. I'm very excited because I worked so tremendously hard to get to this point. I mean, I really worked my butt off to get where I am. 13 years ago, I moved as a poor single mom with my baby to another country to get international experience under my belt and NOW it's paying off. LOL. For those that have known me for the last 5 years, know of all my struggles, so it has been a long road and I deserve this. :)
Hobbies: Boogie Boarding/Surfing, reading, I'm in various single meetup groups from bellydancing, politics, salsa dancing. However, no time lately, because I'm going to school full time, work is 10-12 a day, the kids and trying to find time for friends and an occasional date. But I plan on trying new things once the weather gets a little better.
Hey everyone,

Good for you Shrimpy, you're an inspiration. My sister lost 75 lbs over the past 2 years. She just started walking, and built it up to 2 hrs walking every day.Like you she just decided one day she was sick of how she looked. Unfortunately she developed breast cancer and had major gynocologic surgery this past year so she's a little too thin now. But the cancer is gone and the hysterectomy/oophrectomy has its benefits.
I just joined Curves this past week and already I feel tons more energy. I've always maintained the same 112-118 lbs my whole life without really trying until summer 2006. After I met M and went back on the pill I have gained 15 lbs. I have waaay less stress in my life and for me stress was burning calories big time. I also changed my eating habits as M tends to eat dinner much later than I normally do. With school I sit in front of a computer or a drafting table most of the day so my normal day to day activity level has dropped. I saw this picture of myself my daughter took during our ski vacation and I just can't believe it is me! I look exactly like I remember my great-grandmother YIKES!!! So, it's time to just get myself back to the person I think of myself as. The older we get the more difficult it is to keep off the pudge.
So keep at it.

Yeeehaw, ya'all!

Snow?!?! Ha! Not even!!!
Okay, so we DO get snow here, but the past couple of years, it seems like we're on a "warm trend" where we hardly get any at all. (sorry for you guys who live where you've been buried in the stuff this year!) So it means one of 2 things: 1) the snow will still hit later, in Feb, or 2) the snow will hit us bad NEXT year.
We have our times when we get over a foot overnight... but so far, it hasn't happened.
AND... it's so flat here... there isn't any skiing here! If we want to do any skiing, the closest we would have to go is northern NewMex... but I've never skied anyway. I'd like to try it sometime, but never have. That said though- I can imagine X-c skiing being a great exercise! They make gym machines that imitate that movement, too! I bet it gives you a GREAT booty! ;-)
