Santa just came to our house

I thought I would share what I did this year for my DS for Xmas.

His dad and I alternate Xmas and TG - this year I had him for TG and his dad has him for Xmas.

I usually have Santa come to my house early before he goes away. But usually it is only 1 or 2 days early. I think that is okay except it is hard for him to open all his toys and then not have time to play with them and have to go away.

This year his babysitters are going away for 3 weeks and I really wanted them to celebrate with us. So we celebrated today!! I had family over, a great meal, and all of his gifts ready to open. We surprised him by picking him up at school early - he didn't expect that - and you know every kid loves to get out of class early!!

Then when he was about to go in the door I told him that a FEDEX package came from Santa today. He was so happy. My family and the babysitters brought their gifts too so he got a big pile of loot.

Everyone had so much fun.

And now I am on easy street. My shopping is done, my cookies are done. everything. And I will have a nice week break when his dad takes him to SC.

This is new for me this year - usually I am so bummed about Xmas when he is not here. I just had to share my creative idea and good news.

That's great. This is my first christmas with out dd, she's 4. But it's just the day that I'll miss. I have her christmas eve until bedtime. We agreed Santa goes to alternating houses each year, wherever she is. For christmas eve I'm planning some new traditions and she'll have gifts to open from me, my parents and my sister's family. I'll give my contribution to Santa to her dad, but I won't see her come down the stairs christmas morning. As much as I will miss that, I'm trying to focus on what I can do for me that day. Nice book, relaxing quiet day. I think it will be okay.

That's great! I'm glad you've found such a cool way to handle not having your son for Christmas. Just another reminder that the date on the calendar doesn't matter as much as the spirit. Enjoy your you time!

What an excellent way to improvise. NOW, if you want, you can feel free to go out and enjoy the sounds and sights of the season totally, with no pressure! What a good idea.

I hope you have a wonderful week to yourself when N is with his father. Almost wish *I* could do things that easily. I'll bet your son had such a great time.
