I was going to post this earlier in the week, but found that it was just too painful, and I needed a little more time.

Oh goodness Moon, I wish there was something I could say - I know all too well how painful it is to lose a dear family dog. My sister also lost her dog this week. She was on a trip and it had emergency surgery and didn't make it.
May you and the kids find peace and comfort real soon - I am sure his loss affects you every day in so many ways.
Oh Moon! I hate that for you and your girls. I know he was probably such a huge family friend to all. People that don't have dogs or could care less about them, just don't understand how big a loss it can be.
I'm glad that you had 10 wonderful years with him and know you will cherish a lot of memories.
Thanks, guys.
As a dog owner myself and has lost a dog, I know that they are part of the family.
Ok, I am BAWLING. Im so sorry. It breaks my heart to think of losing pets - i swear to God, I will go off the deep end when something happens to one of my Boys. ((((hugs)))) to you & the kids. I am SO glad you were there with him for his final moments.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Rebecca, Mom to Averey, 2/8/00, Kibo, Sana & Zuri too!
Thanks, Mark.
And after reading the Rainbow Bridge, I'm crying too!
