Shane's new job
| Thu, 12-16-2004 - 9:00am |
So far, he seems to be fine. But he's going to be late tonight because he got a call from another place that wants him to run their Used Car department. That's his specialty. He found out what the guy that left was making and he couldn't pass up the chance to go talk to them tonight. So he's gonna drive right after work tot he other place and meet the GM at 7 tonight for an interview. I think that's great. I mean it's not like he's losing insurance all over again. He can weigh his options this time and look for the best deal.
At least if he doesn't like what he hears at this place, he still has his current job.

Hey Mel! Sorry I haven't been around. I don't really have time to do anything on boards today. But before today I couldn't even log in and get around in here. Don't know what was wrong. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you guys and glad that Shane has been able to get another job (and other job leads!) going so quickly!
Hugs to you!
Thanks for asking. I've honestly been better. I'm furious at them for firing him at Christmas. We hadn't finished shopping. Dylan's is done, but we hadn't bought anything for my parents and we already got Shane's mom her gift, so I feel bad about that. Not that they expect anything, but I think would be hurt if they knew she got a gift and they did not. I can't get Shane anything and I hope doens't try to get me anything because we can't afford it.
The advance he took for his first check to help with closing costs was taken out of this paycheck so it was barely anything and we have bills to cover. We can cover them, but we have nothing left. And we aren't sure about pay schedules so when he gets paid next is crucial plus getting our house deposit back from the rental house we just left.
So yes, I've been better, but I'm alright. Just hanging in there.

I think logging on has been a problem all over. Not many posts here the last couple of days. Of course, we're all busy with holiday stuff anyway.
He gets offers almost weekly so it was of no surprise that he had a place to go right away. He's known all over the area for his abilities in the field. And the lead to the place he is going tonight is a great one. I just want him to be happy where he works because it makes life so much more pleasant for us all if he's not stressed to his limit.
I hope it all turns out well and I know it will. We've managed to do lots that we didn't think we could handle. We can handle this too.
Just sucks that it's Christmas and they fire him now.

Mel,
Keep hanging in there!
I'm glad that Shane is dealing so well. And having somewhere else to go right away is a great relief for you both. I hope the offer he's gone to talk about tonight is SOOOO good that it means a sigh of relief for you!
HUGS

He really liked the interview. It took over 2 hours and he said he thinks he will be offered the job. The only catch is that he will have to tell his close friend who he now works for that he's leaving. He hates that.
I told him that he has to do what makes him most happy. Finance is not his field in the car business and this new offer is his deal...Used Cars. It's his baby. He knows the in's and out's of it and can make a horrible lot run smooth in a matter of a couple of weeks. He's a pro!
I told him that if this guy is a real friend, he'll wish Shane the best and want him to be happy. That's friendship. Plus Shane has a family now. That runs very deep with him. Responsibility is a big deal to him. He seems alright where he is and could probably be happy there but given the fact that there's a job with his name on it in his grasp, he has no choice but to consider it. He'd be foolish not to.
