My son is a riot. Yesterday I found out we are both eligible for a phone upgrade. So, off to the phone store we went. The store was not too busy and we had a nice guy help us with our choice and teach us all the features and even give us the mp3 ringtones out of his phone. We ended up getting the same phone - I figured why not because then we can just buy one car charger and share it and it does have neat features that we both like.

So, now we are using the bluetooth to send each other songs, videos and pics across the house. He got up early and brought the phone to my room and we were comparing features. We both like the same songs. And the little devil took a video of me chasing the dogs around the room in my nightgown.

Then he is asking if he can get a new video game system - and was recording it just in case I said yes!!

Then we discovered that the man put the internet on his phone instead of mine. So I agreed to leave it on his phone for the weekend. He was looking up the weather and his favorite sports stats.

I don't know how we managed to get him out of the house on time this morning!!

I am sure everyone has a story to share about having fun with your kids!!

oooo! I like this thread because it takes off from the normal SO discussion.

My kids and I have a blast together. We goof off ALL the time. We are pretty close to poverty but you would never guess it because they are filled with riches and happiness otherwise. The girls and I just play pranks on each other all day. It's been an ongoing thing since the divorce, but moreso since I moved back to the States. We wrestle around, play kung-fu silent movie style and dress up in costumes or find props and do something creativly funny.
Both girls have a huge sense of humor and Nina my youngest is getting so funny without meaning too. The other day she was holding her privates and said, Mommy, my penis hurts. I almost died laughing! Then instead of Lucky Charms, she calls the Chucky Charms, like Chucky the doll? LOL. It's just tooo funny!
M's kids are the SAME way. We were sitting in the car last week and he forgot his keys in the backseat. Well as he comes around the front the girls and I were talking about him finding them and then we acted like we didn't know what he was looking for. He became all frantic and then right before he was going to go back into the house, where his X wife was, we all busted out laughing. He told me they do stuff like that to him all the time, so I think we fit in perfectly.

Other things that we do is Sunday snuggle session. The girls pile in my bed and then we just talk, giggle, play goofy for over an hour before I get up to make breakfast. It's sooo nice. I cherish each moment.

My son and I act goofy all of the time. :) He LOVES Shrek right now and watches the first and the second on almost all of the time he is with me. Well, we went to see Shrek the Third last weekend with my mom and neice. At the end of the movie where they do the credits, you know they always play some sort of song and the characters are dancing or something else is going on. As we were getting up to leave, my son and neice start dancing in the aisle and other kids and parents were watching. lol Before, when I was married, I would have been embarassed but now, I just let him be himself. They weren't wild, they were just doing the cool jive type thing. lol If you've seen the movie, you know what song it was!

We will make funny faces at each other to see who can be the funniest. He has his favorite country songs that we play in the car and sing to. I think the most fun is sitting there listening to what he says. He has such an old soul in my opinion. He will sit there and rationalize things and some of the things he comes up with are hilarious!

Good thread.

My two little ones always keep me laughing. I love to sing but have a god-awful voice but it doesn't stop me! So the girls and I will turn on the radio and we'll dance around the room...singing and jumping on the bed. Also, each night we have "cuddle time" before they go to sleep. We hop into bed and watch some goofy show on Disney channel.

I love my kids!!

It doesn't go away when they get older either. Kids go through a phase where they pull away, but my guys always kept that joke around with mom behavior. My S18 graduated from HS last night. He called me on his cell phone to find me in the crowd at the end and kept talking to me on the phone even after we could see one another right til we were in hug distance. It was funny. He LOVED my gift, an antique pocket watch that has a story so perfect for him.

Because I'm working so much, I try to make Sunday (my usual day off) into Funday. We snuggle in my bed for a while, while I grumble about it and usually a pillow or tickle fight ensues.

Droid is VERY funny, in a sarcastic way, his sense of humor is so like mine. The princess is starting to "get" us, but she's just a little ball of energy right now, so it's hilarious to watch her.

She's the only child I know who can have fun for hours with no toys or playmates- she sings, dances, and talks to her imaginary friends without ever telling me she's bored. When she doesn't know you're watching, she's extremely cute and fun to watch.

Last night I got out of work early, so we went for ice cream and then came home and just hung out. The pressure to get them ready for bed was off, and we all stayed up a little later than normal. They came in my room this morning (I have today off instead of tomorrow) and the first thing either of them said was "Can we go to Grandma's?"

Today we'll hang out here then go to my mom's for a bbq this afternoon. It'll be a fun day.

Moody, glad she doesn't have to work today

We just went to see Shrek the Third yesterday, and the kids had a BLAST! I know going to the movies isn't any big deal to many kids, but because we don't go that often, it was a major treat for them! Usually we rent movies and watch at home. They loved it that they got out of school early (early release for the last day- I didn't get them out to play hooky) and got to eat popcorn and M&Ms while "watching a movie in the dark" (according to MonkeyButt- that 'dark' part was half the fun- lol!). They are still laughing over the stuff relating to the Shrek babies! Too cute!

Other fun stuff we might do is pretty simple. Like setting up the big blow-up pool in the backyard when it's hot out, and splashing to our hearts' content! It's big enough that even I can get in and splash with them (and cool off, ahhhhh too). I also blow up waterballoons and let them float in the pool and they can play with them as pool balls until eventually they all get popped. We do water guns and splash balls and it's all fun. :-) It's still not quite hot enough to set that thing up yet, but it'll be neat once it is!

I also have a tent that I will set up in the back, so we can "go camping"... and the kids just LOVE to play in a tent! I also have a small one that I will set up inside sometimes too- and they can "camp" indoors as well.

We also go bowling or geocaching. Sometimes we do road trips (those are the BEST!) to someplace, any place... just for fun. We also like doing things together, like jigsaw puzzles (MonkeyButt gets a bit left out of this one though) and lately, MonkeyBunny is trying to figure out those Sudoku puzzles that I love so much, so that's cool.

We make journeys to the store- like a pet store or bookstore, just to look around. They love looking at the fish tanks or birds and hamsters. PetsMart is great because other people bring their dogs in and they always love meeting other dogs. Sometimes even a venture to Wally World is an adventure in itself because there is so much to look at there! lol

We go hiking (short, easy hikes) or take the dog out for a drag around the block. Sometimes it's playing at the table with Play-doh or Legos. Or tickle fights on the couch.

Nothing too wild, but all fun. :-)

~shrimpy, loving the simple stuff

I used to post here occasionally and still lurk often. I'm remarried now, so I sit back and live vicariously through all of you ;0)

I had to respond to this post, though!

Back in January, we adopted a mixed-breed dog from a shelter (basset/lab mix...she is very funny and sweet!). DS was very, very nervous around dogs at that point. The first week or so was tough. But now, 4 months later, they're great pals! I never thought I'd see the day.

Last night, I was reading a book about dog health and training. DS was interested, so we started looking over the book together. It suggested dropping your voice to a lower octave when you're giving a command...dogs tend to take lower-pitched instructions more seriously. So DS starts giving her commands in a very low voice...lay down...paw...roll over. She immediately listens and does everything perfectly on queue! It was really good for a few laughs. And, of course, a dog biscuit or two.
