I am home today and so are my kids. Anyone else having bad weather today?
I was just thinking how different a snow day is now than when my kids were little.
Today I fixed French toast for everybody, I'm going to work out, shower and then work on the comprehensive questions for the MA exam I have to take in a few months. The kids and I may watch a movie or something.
We used to do a lot of board games...maybe I'll try to get one going later.
A question for bad weather days...what is YOUR favorite thing to do on a "snow day" or day in with the kids? Or without?

Hi Candi...congrads on the new position here! I am very happy for you.
It is horrible here in NH today, t snowed over night about 4 inches and its still snowing and it's supposed to turn to ice. I was lucky that I had my step father down the road for me to take the boys so I could make it to work this morning but we are getting out at 12:30 to we can make it home safe before the ice rolls in.
As for your question, I love to go play in the snow and I looooovvvveee the hot coco when we get back in. We do play board games, UNO (we just got attack UNO) some card games and the boys do play outside by themselves too. When they do that I get things done in the house that I normally couldn't if I was working so...the laundry will be done and folded hopefully by the time J and girls get home so everyone can put their stuff away and I will have a clean slate! Ya, until tonight...LOL...
Happy snow everyone...
Candi:
Here in Chicago, we got 9 inches of snow between yesterday afternoon and this morning. But, it wasn't enough to close the schools -- so, no snow day for us. Man, were my kids doisappointed. We do get a lot of snow here, usually, but over the past few years, we haven't gotten much snow at all. This is the most snow we have had in four years (and I remember that year -- snowed every day for two weeks right up until Christmas and then snowed after that -- I think it was May before all the snow melted!!)
Like I said, it's been so long that we have had snow that my kids have never had a "snow day" from school. But if we were home today, first, I would have gone back to bed. I never get enough sleep. Then I would have done housework. My kids got new "saucers" for Christmas, so I'm sure we would have gone out to use them.
Did I mention that I HATE SNOW!!!! I could care less if it ever snows again.

We had that happen right before christmas in OH. We were all stranded without electric for at least 3-4 days & some people were out for a week. It was a level 3 snow emergency here. YUCKS!
The kids & I stay in our pajamas & drink coa-coa & watch tv. This year though we can now make smores, I bought my dd that Hershey's Smores Maker from Target & it cmae with a free 6 pack of Hershey's bars. It only reguired a lightbulb & is so cute. So, when we get stranded in this time we will be prepared with our smores maker.
When the kids are not home & I am stranded in, I love to make myself a drink or a hot cup of tea & take a long, hot bubble bath with my favorite cd in that I burned at the library from two or three cd's I had. 80's is my favorite even though I am only 28.
Sorry about the weather!
Yes we are having a snow and later ice/freezing rain storm that has been going on since yesterday! Yay me! ;) But I had to come to work. My kids are home with James and then I have to go home and he goes to work. You know what's funny. My son is so hard to get up in the morning but this morning he was up before me. He just knew they wouldn't have school, so he was wide awake. Same things on weekends/vacation. How do they do that? School days, he is a bear to wake up.
Favorite thing to do on a snow day is sleep! haha. I'm not a snow person. But I do like seeing the kids have fun in the snow. As long as I don't get too cold, I'm good. ;)

I always liked to spend a LOT of time watching morning news shows with my pot of coffee. Then probably bake cookies. Read a lot. Play a game with ds. Take naps with chick flicks on. (LOVE sleeping to those) and maybe get around to cleaning at least one thing that is not considered a "basic" and so I don't make time for it.
I could use one of those days. We didn't get one with this storm. APparently didn't think it was bad enough. Bummer...
Well, in Florida we don't have snow days. But we do have "hurricane watch" days - where we are shut in the house for days.
I work at home so I would be inclined to be at work on my computer. My son would read, do puzzles, help me in the kitchen. We would make lunch together, and of course watch the TV for news and hurricane status.
One thing I have found is that the day goes much better when the TV stays off until the afternoon - that way my son is forced to find something creative and fun to do - which he does without the TV and he has a great day.
I don't suppose they would get to go out and build a snowman? I would want to play in the snow!! Seriously!! We don't have that here so it would be a novelty - at least for one day!!
