For any of you awaiting my court update on the X's continued contempt of not paying CS & worse, emotionally abusing our 6 yr old dd ... he continued to totally blow off the judges orders.

That stinks, Rebecca. It sounds like an endless treadmill with no real solution in sight. I think your x has learned that he can get by in life by not doing anything and he will keep doing that for as long as he lives. I just hope that you will get something accomplished in the next round. I am sure the money would help. We will keep our fingers crossed for you. It would surely be a big help if you can get him paying child support on time. I wonder if there is a way for you to garnish his wages?

R, don't worry too much. It stinks that it was continued, but if your ex continues to be the him he's been to date, I still don't think you have much to worry about.
Also, you can pride yourself that you were only 12 minutes late, dealt with your daughter, and he didn't show up at all, and has no valid excuse (like parenting) to prevent him from showing.
My thoughts are with you, keep us posted!

Oh, that sucks so much!!!! Grrrrr!! I know what that feels like. I hate the courthouse/lawyer circus. They need to reform the family court. It's not fair the amount of money regular people have to pay in legal fees. The judge should have called another case and waited to see if you made it in a few minutes. I've seen judges do that so many times. That judge was being a crank pot.

Good luck on the 1st. I hope your ex screws up again and fails to show.

I had one more thought. The judge won't continue it again. They will continue it once if someone doesn't show up, but they won't continue it one more time. Next time, the judge will make a ruling whether or not the ex shows up. If your ex doesn't show up, the judge will be hugely pissed off.

Maybe the judge was burning through the obligatory continuance...knowing that would be the last continuance on this matter.

Maybe in your state they don't continue again and again, here in AZ they sure do. Sheesh, I just want it all to be done with, but the lawyers just drag it out, my X can continue forever since he makes a ton of money, he can outlast me on all this stuff. If anyone deserves to get attorneys fees awarded I do. But my X would have to have a psycho breakdown in court for that to happen. If it makes anyone feel better, my legal fees have hit the 6 figure mark- seriously- and so at least you all aren't in my shoes. Hopefully, Rebecca will get something out of her judge next time. My Jan court date was vacated so now I'm waiting to see what the new date his attorney insists on having. She's actually trying to go after me for attorney's fees!

Yeah, maybe the states are all different. In my state, they will continue once. If one party is a no-show for the next one, then the judge makes a ruling. I was in the courtroom once listenning to another case. The judge gave a man custody of his kids because the woman failed to show for the second time. She had been served both times by the sheriff.
