Sorry I haven't been to active the last couple of weeks--I have been crazy busy at work and haven't had a chance to do more than read a few posts here and there.

Well, this is a different scenario. With regards to a guy wanting to remain a virgin for the right person. It could be that he has high standards for someone to marry.
I am not sure I like that he wants to take you shopping for new shoes right off the bat because of your height. But it doesn't really matter how I feel - it matters how you feel and how he makes you feel with that.
I think you should be cautious but give him a chance and see if your core values and what you want out of life are the same. If you don't like something you should tell him and see his reaction. See how you do in person. Keep dating as others come along and of course keep us posted.
Maybe others have more experience with this situation? More comments are appreciated- like I said this is different and I have not had experience with it.
