Ok. This is a follow up to how much would worry post. I was supposed to get period on Sunday. Took a PG test on Monday it was negative, took a PG test yesterday it was negative. Called the doctor and the nurse told me that sometimes, the pill suppresses ovulation and thins the uterus so much that you skip a period. I never heard of this! Have you ever heard of this? Do you think I should keep taking PG tests all week? It's kind of expensive to do this, but I am panicking.

I have heard of this happening, but I don't think it's really common, and I think it's more likely if you slowly over time have lighter and lighter periods and then one day it stops. I don't think you generally go from normal period to nothing. Although since you haven't been taking it that long, who knows. I do think stress and freaking out can make your body do the same and that can delay your period. I would relax, wait a few days and then take another test. If you were pg there is nothing you can do about it today. Try to think about other things and maybe your period would just show up.

This used to happen to me all the time when I took the pill. I would either skip periods completely or not have them immediately upon starting the placebos and, in that case, my period would happen during the first few days of the active pill week.

The HPT is accurate when your period is 5 days late. I wouldn't test unless my period was at least that late.

if sunday was your first day of your suger pill week then its normal not to start that day it can take between three to five days to get your period after your last active pill so if sunday was your first day then you should get it between today and friday. stress can make your peroid take longer so relax if you took two pg test then you are probley fine and the pill is 99% effective so try not to worry i use to freak out because mine takes four days after my last active pill so the first few months i would worry the whole time. there is a birth control board on here i think its under the health section they can answer alot of question for you and have a FAQ about pills you should read.

Just FYI, if it is really, really driving you crazy (BTDT!) & you can't stand the wait, a blood test would be the most definitive way of knowing for sure. You can detect pregnancy through a blood test very early on & very accurately.

Do I have to go to a doctor for the blood test? I started the placebo pills Sunday. Usually my period starts a day after. Took EPT on Monday and yesterday and they were negative. Did I take them too soon!? The nurse at the doctor's office doesn't seem to think I should worry. That's easy for her to say....

You have to go to the office for the blood test.

Here is info on the EPT:

I predict you will wake up with your period tomorrow.

Keep us posted!

My sister had a similar scare. The doctor told her that if the pg test 5 days after she should have started was neg, then she wasn't. As soon as she had that test and it was neg, she calmed down and got her period the next day. It could very well just be the worrying that is making you late because your emotions can really play havoc with your hormones.

Well, I woke up and still nothing!

I started the placebo pills Sunday. PG tests on Monday, Tuesday and this morning (Thurs) are all negative.

Guess it's just a wait and see now!
