Cheer up.. You are still very young at 42.. My BF is mid 40s and I am his first seriosu GF. So have have done much more than that. You have beautiful kids already.. They are doing well. And this is the right time for you to now start taking care of yourself and getting out there.
I think before you start dating you should try and make some time just for yourself every week, like half day.. May be just go get your hair done, meet friends, join a dance class, yoga class, go out to a coffee shop and just get dressed and go out and enjoy what the world has to offer. May
Hi...I don't get a chance to post very often but thought I might steal a few moments to share a few things of my situation with you and you never know they just might help.
I have been where you are. Was married for 18 years. Married my high school sweetheart, never dated anyone before him. So at the time of my divorce, I was 37 yrs old, three great kids, (2 of them teenagers). I had spent my entire married life with my husband and kids only. Had no friends other than those that we had as a couple. I threw myself into dating waaaaayyyyy too soon. I wanted to avoid those lonely moments at all costs.
Without spelling out what a disaster that was, let me just tell you this....after I realized where I was was NOT where I wanted to be...I stepped back reevaluated and started again. I was already totally involved in my kids activities so what I did was started seeking out the other single
This is the perfect story - how you made a lot of friends and have a full social life. I agree! Good luck with your SO - and welcome and thanks for sharing your story!!
