OK I just finished reading the post. I'm now up off the floor lol.
Sometimes I swear that we are living parallel lives. Did SEV and BE take the same "Really bad humor" pills this weekend?? WTH?? The getting the milk for free comment after the whole Tracy thing would have totally ticked me off...and
I think a lot of men, when they are involved with a woman who is very confident, competent, and generally secure, get this funny idea that this woman won't feel insecure about anything. Then when a situation comes up and the great woman they have shows she is not made of steel, uh oh, the guy freak out happens and they just go into "action" saying things trying to lighten the situation without thinking about what they say.
You are human. The whole meet the XGF at the time when you all are stressed with the fundraiser- bad idea. We can try to be mature about it, but hey, we feel what we feel. And it is only natural that other people will be teasing you both about the marriage thing. M and I get that, too. We choose to ignore it.
Alison rememinded me yesterday that BE's suck-ish attempt at being funny this past weekend was probably how he deals with stress. So now I know, stress= bad humor! Maybe SEV is the same, after all the stress he was blowing off his steam by making a (poorly chosen) comment. Very funny haha! RIGHT.
I would not worry in the least that all the comments about you guys getting married (the hints) bothered SEV. It may have slightly embarrassed him but inside he wants to marry you on his own time table, just like you want.. without any time line. My guess is that he is thinking of HOW to suprise you when enveryone keeps saying it!
Funny...the marriage thing got brought up with BE and I this weekend, too. We were talking and he said "you know we could just date forever, and never get married and we would be fine". And for a second
Thats the thing I love about this place. We can all relate to each other so well. We've all had to deal with skanky ex g/fs, psycho ex wives, deadbeat dads, the trials and turbulations of raising our kids, and even the occasional lonliness and insecurities that pop up. Its so nice to have a forum where we have all been there, did that and got the t shirt. And best of all survived, and are here to share.

Sometimes it takes a freight train of our emotions for them to get it.
