Summer's Starting

Well, our summer officially started last week when the kids got out of school, but the summer plans are starting to formulate. Finally.

Initially, I was thinking I might have surgery this summer but that's not going to happen, so now my summer is open. There were plans for the kids to go see their dad but nothing set. Now, there are plans and dates set so now I know what kind of time frames we are working towards! The kids will go to them next Saturday, just in time for Father's Day- which is good for them.

Next week though- Hiker is going on a scouts trip with his son to Florida... so for about 5 days, I will have nothing but time to myself!!!! Woohooo ME TIME!!!!! lol It's sad, huh- if I'm cheering for a moment in time when everyone is away?? Just for a short time, I will enjoy it. But eventually- I will be glad to have Hiker back in town, and then later in the summer, to have the kids back. I'm sure that my Dad will be coming around wanting to "keep me company" if he thinks I'm sitting at home all alone. So yeah- I have to grab for my alone time when I can get it, because it doesn't come often.

And now Hiker has invited me to go with them this summer when they go to his parent's place for July 4th. With his son, two of his daughters and their kids. All to his parent's house! Which would mean meeting more of the family! I've already met Hiker's two sisters, but haven't met their brother yet. Or all the other nieces/nephews/cousins that all live out that way. Yikes... Not sure why that is somewhat scary to me, but it is.

Dad had talked about making a trip to Hawaii this summer (while the kids are gone) but he looked into flights (or flights/hotel packages maybe)

Sounds like you're going to have some good times this summer and I'm glad you'll have some time with Biker and your family!!

I think it must be something about getting older - I know I really enjoy time to myself now - was not always that way for sure.

Glad to hear your summer has started - and even more glad that you won't have surgery!!

and OOOOOH Shrimps -that is special that you get to go with family - you will go, right? We want details from that for sure!!

I hope you can figure out something fun and affordable with your dad. So many people are cutting back and doing "staycations" - the cost of gas and air travel is just too much right now. I feel lucky that I got my tickets a while back and got 2 for 1. Otherwise we would probably be doing a staycation.

DS had his last day yesterday - I volunteered for the class party. And today I let him stay home to save gas - they would only have watched movies all day and the teacher was cool with him getting all his stuff yesterday and not coming back.

Tomorrow we leave early for camping out west. Then when we come back DS has some camps. And then he goes with his dad to visit his dad's family for a few weeks - and then football starts again. So our summer is full.

I hear ya, Lisa!!! We've already hit the 100's this week!!! I hope that doesn't mean it will be a scorcher this summer!

Niagara Falls would surely cool you off!!! I would love to go see that one day. Bucket List!!! That and Mount Rushmore. lol And hiking into the Grand Canyon (not just looking off into it from the edge- BTDT... I wanna go IN!)
