Hi ladies. I don't believe I've posted here before, but I lurk from time to time.
Brief summary: I'm in my early 30's have two children ages 8 and 2. My ex and I have been trying to get a divorce for more than a year and a half. We're not fighting over anything - just can't seem to get the attorneys to finish. I married my ex at 21 and haven't been on a first date since my Freshman year of college. For the past few months I have been occasionally meeting a male friend (in his late 40's) for drinks and hours of conversation on nights that my kiddos are with their father. Last night my friend took me out for a very nice dinner - not at our usual hang-out. I had a really nice time and the evening ended with a hug - the first time he has ever touched me.
I was thinking about sending him a simple thank you card. Would that seem weird?

I don't think that would be weird- you'd be thanking him for the nice time in a "proper" manner.
I'm afraid that I'm a little "on the fence", but trying to figure that out since I know he doesn't typically date just for the fun of dating. If it becomes clear that he wants a romantic relationship then I'll tell him what I'm feeling/not feeling - whatever the case turns out to be.
An additional complication is that we currently work together about half of the time. However, it's very likely that he will be accepting a new job within the next year. I had figured that we would just be friends as long as we worked together - but last night sure felt like a date.
I know that I trust him. I know that I can talk with him about anything. I think we're both afraid of hurting each other. I know that he is afraid of making a committment in a bad relationship, but I am too. I'm also afraid that it's the attention - not him that I really like. I'm not 'weak in the knees' for him physically - but I think that one good kiss might change that. He's not a "hottie" but he is very intelligent, patient, diplomatic, and conciderate of others.
Welcome - good to see you on our board!
