I'm Thankful that Caleb is finally adjusting to the new school year, we've had a bit of a rocky start this year and he has a hard time with transitions and changes anyway.

I am thankful for my friends who always support me! I don't know how I would survive without them! I am thankful for my job even though it doesn't pay much, I just love coming to work everyday! I am thankful that my kids seem to be doing well right now and also that our temperatures are no longer in the triple digits!

I'm thankful for the usual: my house, my car, my job, my kids, my parents...

But more specifically, my house might be a headache at times (with plumbing troubles, always needing cleaning), it is a safe place and it's MINE.

My car isn't a dream vehicle, but it IS a miracle. I don't know what I'd do about getting to and from work, school and stores without it. Along those same lines, I'm VERY thankful that the gas prices are coming down. Wooohoooo on that!!!!

My job is only part-time (less pay than working full-time) but the scheduling is perfect for the stage of life I am in right now. Lets me get out of the house and do something nursing-related, lets me think professionally again, but still allows me freedom to be at home with/for the kids when I need to be. I figure I have plenty of time to work full-time again later on.

My kids.... oh, those Monkeys!! Some days they drive me nuts, but most of the time, they are making me melt by how cute they are. I love hearing their laughs, seeing their smiles, and watching them grow (though sometimes I want them to stop growing so quickly!).

MonkeyButt's new AFO brace is giving us troubles- it puts a blister on his heel, but thankfully the adjustments and cost of making a new one is covered under the insurance. I'd be paying in the hundreds for one if it weren't for the insurance.

My parents are still here. They're a great lifeline of support as a single mom... they can watch the kids for me when I need a mommy-break, when I need some date-time, when I can't get off work in time to pick them up from school... they are just simply HERE for me. I'm also thankful that I can be here for them as well. To spend time with Mom while she is still plugging along in her cancer battle. And if my Dad ever starts to show his age and needs help, I'm thankful that I will be here to help him with anything he needs.

My computer/internet. Without it, I would feel very "shut out" from the rest of the world. It gets me out of this city and "out" to other places on the planet and have some interaction with others, although it's all cyberstyle. It's still MUCH better than having no contact or "talk" with anyone at all. And without the internet, I'd never have met Hiker.

Oh, My Hiker... I'm just simply thankful for him. He's great & we're doing great. :-)

My hobbies- geocaching, cross-stitching, rubber-stamping, quilting, reading, working out, sudoku... because they keep me PLENTY busy during those times when I might actually find some "bored time" away from everything listed before that. hehe

~shrimpy, gushing over coffee this morning (thankful for coffee too!)

Wow - this is such a positive thread!!

I am thankful for my son who is the light of my life - and his happiness and health. He is doing well in school and popular with many friends and he is fit and well. I can't really ask for more than that for him.

I am also thankful for my fitness and health. All of my friends. And my family.

And for all of you who share my joys and pains of being a single mom and the strength not to settle or fret because I am still looking.

I just got back from a training week with a new coach - so I am happy all around!!

Well, I'm a little late, but I'm thankful that I'm busy!

I'm thankful for my hooligans (my children, that is) who light up my life, encourage me, remind me that I can be supermom, humble me, make me laugh, cry, smile, frown, whisper, shout, sing, dance, exhaust me, exhilerate me, and keep me hopping.

I'm thankful that school is going well for all three of us- me, and both Droid and the Princess, who's nickname will simply have to be changed from Princess Spasticka to Social Butterfly ;-)

I'm thankful that even though I've put in 60+ hours this week at work, it's a decent job that I'm good at, it's mentally stimulating, and it's something I enjoy doing. Oh, and it pays the bills, which I really am thankful for!

I'm thankful for my friends, without whom I really couldn't get through- especially when I realize how long it's been since I've seen some of them, but when I call, they're there, and vice versa.

I'm thankful for my family, who are thriving. I'm thankful that my father is doing amazingly well after his BMT, my mother is still holding strong, and my extended family is continuing to be happy and healthy.

Most of all, I'm thankful that I can appreciate all of these things. In the midst of all the tedium that tends to drag us down, I'm so thankful that I can recognize all that I have to be thankful for. Jobs and car trouble and whiny kids and bitter coworkers and dateless nights may seems like the end of the world, but honestly, we all have so much to be thankful for.

Way late at this, but counting the blessings today. Thankful for my children and the lessons that they have taught me. Thankful that we live in America and have choices as women whereas others do not have the same choices. Thankful that I have the sense of sight, smell, hearing, and touch to be able to take in all the beautiful sights around us every day, take in the aroma of the flowers and the fresh air, to hear the birds sing and the laughter of family and friends, and to be able to hold those same people close. There is indeed many things to be thankful in life even when things seem to be the darkest. Thanks for reminding us all of that!

I had to add one more thing...
This morning, as per our usual, we're running a few minutes behind to get everyone out the door. The school bus comes at 7:35, so I try to have the kids dressed, fed, and ready to walk out to the stop at 7:30. We didn't quite make it, but weren't running too far behind. The Butterfly was skip/hop/jump/singing her way along in front of Droid and I, who were behaving ourselves with much more decorum.
The bus pulled up and we were about halfway down our long driveway, so we start running (Droid and I) and I tell the Butterfly to go ahead. The driver tells her it's okay if she wants to run back and give me a hug- how wonderful! Our old driver used to hate to have to wait- even one second!
So, I'm thankful for bus drivers who are also parents, and know that a five year old will want to kiss and hug her mom good-bye! We're never late to the stop, so I'm sure if this were a chronic thing he'd be less understanding, but somehow I've managed to always get us down there on time. I was just impressed with him and his understanding, as well as patience, as she never walks anywhere- she's always running, skipping, or dancing, and now they've gone and taught her the "gallop"... which means another mode of transportation involving her feet moving not quite sedately.
I suppose as long as she isn't "neighing" too, I am grateful for that as well! Although knowing her, she'll find a way to incorporate it into a song and dance number involving kicks and spins, complete with a costume.

Moody- feeling that what could have been a rough start to this week has been turned into a positive thing
