There's hope yet

Yesterday I had the most interesting conversation with a fellow teacher. I barely knew this woman because I deal with K-2 and she teaches 4th and is on a different floor. However, she got a new student this week, a beautiful boy from Haiti who speaks not a word of English. She passed my room yesterday to ask if I spoke French (er, um, kinda...)asked me a couple of things about how to help them, and then we started talking...

She's 40ish, like me, fairly recently married to what she says is the man of her dreams (second marriage). She met him ON-LINE! Here I was thinking I was probably the only teacher at the school in this situation (single mom trolling the internet), feeling sort of yucky about it, and now I feel sort of relieved! So there is hope yet, just when I was feeling like a huge, as my seven year old nephew says, "loser baby".
