Third Date Theory

Okay this is not my theory. A number of my friends (some married, some not) on separate occasions have said something along the lines of "the next date is the THIRD date. That's a big one"

YIKES. Did I miss a memo! What is up with the third date? I mean I've been out of the dating scene for 13 years but I don't remember this theory. I like this guy, he seems happy to follow my lead on things. So I'm not really worried about this but I am wondering about other people's perspectives.

Due to scheduling issues, I won't be seeing him for a few weeks so the third date is a ways off.

I don't believe in this, and I think it's NUTS and waaaay too fast, but I think the Third Date Theory is that sex is supposed to happen.

As if you can REALLY get to know ANYONE well enough to truthfully go into sex on a third date knowing you won't just get dumped afterwards because the guy got what he wanted. Personally I detest the whole Third Date thing (as I see it).

I can't see 3 dates being considered enough "waiting time" if you say you're trying to take things slow. And this is from someone who, in the wild and crazy past- has NOT waited even 3 dates... and now know just HOW STUPID that was!

I agree... I think the third date is about sex... I've heard guys say if he doesn't get sex on the third date then he probably won't get it at all. And for girls, it isn't considered slutty to have sex on the third date...

Interesting to think that there is a "Third Date Theory".... I might google it to see what comes up. First Date is first impression... is it good enough to get a second date. Second Date kinda confirms or denies the first impression.... For me, in the last year I've rarely gotten past the first date, much less a second date and I can probably count Third date on one hand....
