I have been meaning to ask you guys this and Thursday is a great time for theatre tips from all of you!!
Please tell us: Movies and especially chick flicks that have empowered you or brought you joy or ones you just like and want to mention.
(okay - and now I am really going on vacation - will be back next week - and hoping to have lots of fun things to read!)
Cheers and lots of hugs to all of you!!
(Michael of course you are welcome to talk about movies, too!)

I love movies!! And if didn't catch it in one of my former posts in the off-topic folder, I go to them by myself all the time. That is just the ticket when I want to go out and don't have an SO or friend to attend with.
Here is a short list of favorites:
Under the Tuscan Sun - wow - that one spurred such a lot of work on my house.
Troy - this one was a great story - I loved the costumes, cast, story, music, cinematography
Something's Gotta Give - romantic comedy - very cute!
Monster in Law - light, funny
I love movies too! I have always been a huge movie fan and even belonged to a Movie Trivia Group when I was in college. Yes, I am a Star Wars geek and once dressed up as Princess Leia for Halloween. :)
Some of the recent movies I’ve seen that I really liked include:
The Upside of Anger
Aviator
Monster-in-Law
Beauty Shop
and ofcourse SW Episode III –Revenge of the Sith
Some of my all time favorites include:
My Big Fat Greek Wedding – (though I’m not Greek, (Italian/Argentine) I can relate!)
Anna & the King – I love this classic love story.
Strictly Ballroom –Great dancing and romance
Moonstruck – I just love Nicolas Cage in this movie and the love story.
Say Anything (how can you not like this movie?) Lloyd Dobbler was like the boyfriend of all boyfriends!
Movies I’m looking forward to:
Cinderalla Man and Batman Begins!
Hi Orange clouds
I am new to this site, A single Mom of a 5 yr DD (ok just learning the abbrev's). I have been reading the postings to Single Mothers and Dating and I have to say they have peaked my interest. I am in the right Group.
As far as movies go, I have to say that "Shall we Dance" was a chick flick but a good one.
Also when you need a quick pick me up watch " Meet the Flockers" It is hysterical. Barbara Streisand really out did herself in that movie. Actually all the characters are fabulous.
Another Favorite of mine is "Daddy Day Care" My Daughter has us watching that flick at least once a month, but I must say it does get you cracking up.
Anyway I just want to introduce myself to you. I am really impressed how you guys stick together in this particular group. It isnt easy being a single Parent led alone a single Mom but everyone here sounds like they have been there and done that. It is good to know you have somewhere to go where your not alone.
Be back soon.
Hi AmericanButterfly!
Welcome and thanks for the kind words about our board. I've been hanging around here for about 2 years now and it has been a very supportive place for me. I hope you stick around to see the same. I love your screen name by the way. It makes me picture a red white and blue butterfly fluttering around. :)
I loved Shall We Dance. That was a great movie. And I didn't see Daddy Day Care but I did see the Pacifier and I thought it was alot of fun. The kids loved it.
I am going to be renting Meet the Fockers on my next trip to the video store, but this week I rented Aviator and White Noise. LOVED the Aviator...White Noise...eh.
Why Thank you Orange Clouds for the compliment on my screen name. It is funny how you picture my screen name because I just had a tattoo of an american butterfly put above my waist line. It is exactly how you pictured it, a red/white and blue butterfly waving in the air like a flag .
And yes I think I will stick around here because as I read the postings I am becoming familiar with the people and your screen names. Everyone sounds very down to earth and noone seems above anyone here. That is what attracted me to the site. the only thing here is I am trying to keep up with the lingo, lol (abbreviations). I'll catch on in no time..
I appreciate you welcoming me aboard.
Thank you.
Welcome!! Glad to have you aboard!!
I also liked Shall We Dance - very good!!
I am glad to see all the good suggestions for movies - thanks to OrangeClouds, too!!
Hi Judy I am glad to be aboard. Everyone here is very helpful with their opinions. .This is certainly a group I would recommend.
Thanks for the opportunity to have joined and met and listened to some interesting people.
:}
Welcome American Butterfly!
I loved Under the Tuscan Sun too Judy. I like light romantic comedies like Monster in Law but I also love more dramatic romance. I have been meaning to see Troy. I love anthing that has sword fighting in it. I definitely into old fashioned romance too. It's a Wonderful Life and Life is Beautiful are favorites of mine. As you can see, the commond thread is romance! I'm a hopeless romantic, but I usually keep it to myself. I'm going to admit this to you guys at the risk of being laughed at but, I love watching Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast and all of those ridiculous Disney movies with my kids! It's pure unfiltered idealism that satisfies something in me. I know it doesnt happen in real life, but I like thinking about it happening in cartoon world.
