I am crossing everything for you, Rebecca, and hope that by the time you get this message, you will have managed to find someone, or a few people to interview.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago, where a nanny I had hired called me on the Friday to say she couldn't take my kids any more, as from the next Monday. I freaked too, but managed to find a temporary solution (my mum came over), and then something more permanent. There is always a solution, but when this type of situation comes up unexpectedly, it is very hard.

What about other internet sites with local announcements in your area? Or the local newspapaer (look through the announcements, or put your own announcement in)? Or putting some adverts up in your post office / local store? Sometimes the old-fashioned way of doing things (i.e. not using the computer) are better: you are more likely to find a grandmother with spare time on her hands by placing an ad in a newspaper or the store than on Craig's List. Sometimes when we are in crisis situations, we don't think of these things. Maybe you already have done these things, but if not, give them a shot?

Thoughts are with you,

Oh dear!! I so understand your pain of being in sitter poopyville. I hope the CL ad pays off - usually those bring in someone good pretty quick.

I like your idea of working nights to be with DD more.

Don't worry if you have to string her along with friends and aunts for a bit. As long as they are positive people I think that is fine and fun. It is not optimal on your nerves but not too bad for a kid. It will teach her to be flexible and go with the flow; it will show her that you can work things out in a pinch and she will have fun seeing new faces.

I can remember a few trade shows or work events back in the days of DS being little that he had a string of babysitters for different days because xh had to plan an out of town trip at the last minute. It would go something like school and my sister's house during the week, the babysitter on the night my sister had something going, my parents on the weekend and his dad's house when he got home til I got home. We put together a schedule, printed it out, double-checked it like 10 times with everyone and away he went. He did fine - didn't think anything of it.

Just imagine if you were married to a really rich guy and he travels all the time and you work and don't have a sitter - you would make it work the same way.

The plus side to all of this is that DS is amazing at packing and organizing his stuff for all sorts of things. He is way ahead of the rest right now with the locker situation at school. All the moms are complaining about how they forget books. My sister just went on a rant about that - her DD never has her books. And we have no worries with this. And in his room he makes his monthly schedule with all of his activities on a dry erase board.

I think if you approach it in a happy and positive manner your daughter will think it is a fun adventure.

HUGS sweetie!! I know that is so frustrating when they are little and you HAVE to work and be somewhere and don't have a steady sitter.

Ohh Rebecca! I'm so sorry! If I didn't have my own children I'd come in a heartbeat to help out!! If you need anything during the day, especially on the weekends, don't hesitate to let me know! The kids can play! I'm not too far away!!!

Oh yes, when I was a student, 100 bucks would have kept me going practically all term! Now I'm lucky if it lasts one day... sigh
