Trying patience - found an ironman

Okay. I found an ironman - but it is a race I want to do!! LOL!!

Anyway, I am trying to have patience with these 3 but think I do not.

The golfer as I have said has peculiar facial expressions that are girly to me and he agrees with me too much, even going so far as to repeat what I say. The conversation is not anything but topical. Yesterday he sent a one-line message through match asking what is new? And so I sent a one line message back - not too much - just work - how about you?

The swimcoach annoyed me last night on the phone. Apparently he is out of school (he is a teacher) right now and he loves long conversations on the phone late at night. I don't. I tried to get off but he kept blabbing and blabbing and can be negative. I guess you could say he put me off. He was asking me about what his competition was. And I don't want to get into all that.

The lifeguard is so fun and funny - we have been emailing each other back and forth just silly stuff. This is what I want - fun and funny. But I don't think he is looking for a relationship. The ball is in his court for going forward with dates or anything else. But my expectations are in order.

No new ones yet. And I am not caring too much. I am happy that I signed up for my big race next spring and ready to get to work. My son sent me the most beautiful email message this morning saying how proud he is and how he is going to help me reach my goal.

AWE!!! That's so sweet! Cool! An ironman! I can't even lift an iron. LOL.

I hear you on the girlie girl golfer. I like talkers, but they can get annoying too. depends. And as for the lifeguard... He may only be into a fling. Take it in stride, you seem to be doing a great job with it! Keep looking for new potentials. I know their has to be someone that is JUST right.

True - I am learning to sit back and observe and not get too caught up in one too soon. You have to see what they are about and what they want and stuff like that. The SwimCoach was on top of the list until he started all the rhetoric about match and relationships and stuff like that. I think he was in teacher/lecture mode and it was too much when I was tired and he wouldn't let me get off the phone. Yawn......

And I think the fireman spoiled me - he would call and just say fun stuff about his day and see what I am doing and tease me about my eyes. It was really fun. And while I am over him and do not want him back - I want fun like that!! I like a banter back and forth.

Here is a quote my DS just mailed me:
"You are so brave to be signing up for that IronMan. Because no other mom can even try to manage a house, 2 dogs, an 11 year old kid, a business and your training. You are truly the best out there in my mind. So go out there and show them that you can do it.
GO MOM, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He just sent me that message!! I am going to frame it!!

But all of that puts the dating in perspective - it is just dating and it takes more than a week to find the right one.

The girlie girl golfer thing reminded me of your whole dissertation on the man with the funny sandals who had all the facial/ear hair and the hippy clothes. You just can't get over all that if you don't like it.

I think we are all in a balancing act of what looks good on paper and what turns us on and what we know will work. You just have to have all three things.

what does your training consist of? I do races such as 15K's and half marathons. How do you cross train? I do weights and bike.

OMG, your son is THE BEST!!!!!!! Tears in my eyes!

As for the guys ... the facial expressions would aggravate me, & girly girl? Oh oh ... lol

The talker ... THAT would get me too. & asking about "competetion" at this stage ... ugh.

The lifegaurd ... well, since I have seen him - I say SLEEP WITH HIM! LOL

Yes I am really into running. I did 12 miles last week in 1 hour and 44 minutes. I do two 8 mile runs and a 12 mile run a week and bike one 13 mile ride a week plus bootcamp class on Thursdays.

Does your trainer have you on any special strength training schedule? What are you doing about diet?

I eat a really healthy lowfat diet - am target weight. No strength training - I don't need that for all the endurance stuff I do - although there is sport specific stuff for strength. I have a coach and he has done great things with me!

I'm at target weight too. I've thought of doing triathalons, but I don't like swimming!! LOL. But I love running and biking. I'm not putting in nearly as many miles as you are.
