Hi everyone!! Congrats to Candi on being the new CL!
I have the day off today because I have grading to do, but of course I want to take a break right now.
DF is organizing my garage...essentially forcing me to relook at things and throw it out. I don't know why I hold onto purses once I get a new one because I never, ever use them again. I've got French books I've never read (because they're in boxes in the garage). This weekend I threw away my wedding scrap book. I never completed it so I just tossed it. If it was completed I would have given it to my DD when she was older, but otherwise, who cares? My garage fits three cars, but right now there's so much junk that it fits one. Moving in is a big, big project...because it's about making room before he moves in.
yesterday we went to look at wedding rings for him...he likes this platinum square, kind of wide. I like it, too. I love my engagement ring, but I"m not excited about the band that comes with it...I would like to wear my engagement ring on the right hand and get a matching band for my left ring.
clothing...we've gotten the girls taken care of, but now we have to take care of the boys...no tuxes or suits on the beach...but I did want something coordinated for pictures. I think i'm getting white flowers or pink flowers (the most traditional I've seen) but we're all wearing white. He's going to wear a long sleeve linen shirt with a T underneath and khakis. I'll try to find the same for DS. He found this really nice Liz Claiborne linen shirt, but I prefer all white for portraits. He's going to wear that for the 'rehearsal dinner'.
We're talking a lot about the dinner. The invite says we're having the reception at home, but he really feels that we should take people out if they came to the island. I really was upset because I didn't want a reception. I wanted dinner for two and a wedding night, not socializing for hours on end. So we're taking everyone out to dinner the night before. He wants to book this fantastic restaurant...which is where I've been saying the entire while that I want to have dinner after the wedding. The other option is to have a catered dinner on the beach..the hotel can provide that and that would be very special indeed.

I couldn't find anything online that looked like my dress...it's ivory strapless, pretty simple.
That's the end of my break!

2/13 will be crazy crowded, too!
I would stay at . . . The Mirage (I've stayed there numerous times), The Venetian (stayed there a couple of times), The Bellagio (never stayed there, but have seen the rooms), Mandalay Bay (have stayed there many times), Monte Carlo.
I would not stay at The MGM (love the property - don't love the green glowing hotel rooms), Excalibur, Luxor, New York, New York (LOVE the property - don't like the hotel rooms - and my poor friends stayed there and had a room that looked out on the roller coaster - and the room shook whenever the coaster went by!), Circus Circus (The Steak House there is SUPREME - but besides that - I wouldn't step foot into that place), Stardust, Tropicana, The Flamingo, the Riviera . . . .
The Rio is nice, but off the strip. Same with the Palms and Hard Rock - both both of those are young, PARTY crowds - I'm sure that is not what they want. Downtown - still really nice - a 4 diamond property - Golden Nugget. Love that place. Lots of REALLY good childhood memories there.
Where are they getting married? Many of the hotels have packages where if you get married there, you get a suite at a discounted rate.

Hi Bay
I also wanted to add my personal recommendation for the Aladdin in Vegas. That is where I stayed when I just went and I absolutely loved it! Very nice rooms and the best part to me was that you didn't have to go through the casino every time you come in to the hotel to get to your room. The only bad thing I can say is no coffeemaker in the room!haha.
