Update on my niece

I just wanted to let everyone know that my niece is doing well, and in fact, she came home from the hospital late last night. She has SVT, which is superventricular tachycardia, which means that her heart beats too fast. She was born with an extra vein in her heart, which is causing this condition. The doctors think they can control it with medication, and no surgery was done. However, they think that in the future surgery might have to be done to close off that extra vein which is causing the rapid heart beat, but it will not have to be major surgery, just some kind of laser surgery. She has to be followed up by a cardiologist, but she will be able to go to school tomorrow. No basketball though until the end of the season, which there are only 2 games left. She can't do gym or do any kind of physical activity for 2 weeks, so cheerleading is also out. But, it's a small price to pay for health.

Last night when I drove up to school to pick the kids up, the first thing my son said was that he wanted to see his cousin. When we found out Sunday night that my niece was going to have to stay in the hospital, my other niece, nephew and my son immediately starting making cards for her. It's so cool to have kids that are so close in age and so close in spirit that they care that much about each other.

Thanks for everyones support, well wishes and prayers.

This is wonderful news Donna! Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. I am so happy for her that major surgery will not be necessary. Thank God!

I'm so glad that they think they can put off surgery at least for now. How great your kids are, I know what you mean. They make you proud huh?

Hope she continues to do well!
