Check out meetup.com and search on your area - they have all sorts of groups - and a neat thing is that you can look up events in your area that are happening by calendar - in other words - here are all the events for Sunday - or whatever day - so you can plan to get out when you don't have your kid.

I bet you can meet people through your daughter and her events as well - maybe there is some way to volunteer for her school or activities - not so much to find a date - but to have more friends and just get out.

It takes some time to meet new people and it seems overwhelming now - each day will get a little better and pretty soon you will be busy and smiling with good times!

You are right. Dating a students parent is not good and I realize that now. I guess I was just flattered at the attention after so long. I'm looking forward to broadening my circle and meeting new people that are good for me. I hope to find someone that God has for me and only me.

You will find the right one. In His timing. Which usually has never lined up with my desired time frame! :-)

Thanks for your reply. I certainly hope I find the right one. My daughter will be going to band camp in about two weeks and I'm wondering just what am I going to do while she is gone. It would be nice to be able to have someone to go out with but I have about decided to go alone.

When I first got divorced I was pretty lost when the kids were gone to their Dad's house. I was married 21 years, so it was quite an adjustment. I started hanging out more with friends, even though most were married. I watched movies and read books that I didn't ever have to do before. I painted my bedroom and got things in the house really organized.

I have a great ladies class at church. There are ladies that are married, widowed, single and divorced. We have outings occasionally. I started going to the gym and walking outside when it wasn't too hot. I have taken some classes, like Excel and wish I had time to take more. I have even gone to a concert by myself when nobody else was available! When I had extra money I went to Vegas and on a cruise. (no extra money right now!)

Anyway, just try to stay busy doing things you might not have had time for in the past. Some of the ladies here have joined meetup groups. It is an adjustment and there are still times when I don't have my kids and everyone is busy. There are still some lonely moments, but they pass. Keep posting and stick around the board. There are some really smart ladies here with great advice!

Thanks for the great ideas! I do plan to organize here at home and I also said that I would start getting some things ready for my classroom at school. Last year when she went to camp I basically laid around all day everyday, but I want to be more active this time and enjoy myself.

If you can get a Group to go do stuff with, you may be driving yourself, but you won't be "going alone".

Wow - every day of the week? And not a meat market? Your singles Sunday group sounds great!! What happened to it? Or have you been too busy?
