There was an article and video in the Wall Street Journal this morning about Dr. Randy Pausch. You can view his youtube video here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4HqdnjgkExY
He is delivering his last lecture - but it is not because he is retiring as many of his other professor colleagues do - it is because he is going to be dead from pancreatic cancer in just a few months.
He offers a story of his childhood and what made him so successful - which I thought was good - the one thing that stands out is that his parents let him be "the master of his domain" in his room - they let him write and draw all over the walls.
And the other thing I thought was poignant was his life's lessons. Some of which are:
-Brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things.
-Stop complaining about bad service and shoddy merchandise. Instead hug someone you love.
-Give people enough time and they will impress you.
There were more - here is his home page and he will have the video links and upcoming lecture transcript there soon. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/

Thanks for posting.
That was pretty crazy about drawing on the walls. But the idea of "being the master of your domain" in your room is pretty cool. Although I must admit, I do detest a mess. But he does have all the trappings and colors he likes - and much more than what I had.
Awesome clips, Judy!
