Are kids no longer allowed to trick or treat in the neighborhoods? Or do you let your kids, or what's happened to Halloween? I think it's the best holiday of the year, because it's just so much fun. We are having a HUGE Halloween Party this year and everyone is so excited.

What are you going to do?

We're having a great party tomorrow night. But, it's for the adults. Our dd will be the only one there (don't worry she's not sad about that, she thinks it's cool that she's the only kid cool enough to come LOL And we'll put her to bed at 8 and she'll go to sleep---I've got such a great kid!) It's not that we banned kids, it's just that the only other couple coming that has kids decided they'd rather leave them with gramma and grampa who live close to our house. We had one a couple years ago and it was a big hit and everyone was clammering for us to make it an annual event. Last year didn't work out but probably from now on. Dd has a Halloween party at school today (yes actual Halloween, not just a fall party, and with costumes) and dh will be taking her trick or treating on Sunday. Our neighbors across the street totally decorated their house last night so it's a good neighborhood for it. (Nothing gouhlish though thankfully, I like tasteful Halloween decorations not blood and guts). Dd likes to had dh take her because he takes her to more houses than old mom. Have a great weekend.

I know I'm in the minority, but I love Halloween. My kids had a party at school this morning, and yes, they got to dress up. I took half a day off; I did story time for my son's class and helped with the party in my daughter's class. They loved it because they love when mom comes to school (I know that won't last). Tonight my and a friend of mine are going to take the kids around to show them decorated houses (they love that stuff). Tomorrow night there is a Halloween party at the park district in my town. On Sunday, the kids are invited to trick-or-treat with a friend from church. And then in the evening, they can trick-or-treat by my house from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. And, on Halloween night, like I always do, I will watch my favorite scary movie, the original Halloween. I turn off all the lights, light a few candles, and scare myself. Man, I love that movie. I jump every time I watch it, even though I've seen it 100 times. Happy Halloween everyone.

It is one of my favorite holidays too! mostly because it's the one day of the year you can be anything you want to be and rules pretty much go out the window :)

My kids can't dress up in school because it's no longer allowed, but they are going trick-or-treating for sure! And last night we went to the Haunted Forest and creeped them all out. They screamed and cried, even, but in the end they wanted to go again and couldnt stop talking about it. LOL

Hope you have an awesome party!

In SF, there are some streets that go all out and the police come and block cars, etc. Regular trick or treating still goes on in some neighborhoods, but we live on a hill with not that many lights on Oct. 31. It's more fun to go somewhere where there are lots of people. A couple of weeks ago we went to a farm and they had a fantastic hay maze. They have an amazing collection of exotic pumpkins and they grill corn, you can pet animals...it's a beautiful little ritual: we drive down the coast, we enjoy a farm for ht day and then we stop off somewhere scenic for drinks. I'm so glad the kids voted for going back next year. I'm so sad that there's a generation of kids growing up thinking that Halloween is about trick or treating in the mall.
