Webcams....

A guy on POF sent me a message Monday saying he wanted to chat with me. We were able to chat last night and after just a 3 min. or so into the session he asked if I wanted to view his webcam. Are webcams freaky to you or is it just me?

He gave me his phone number and asked me to call if and when I felt comfortable with that. I told him I would call but would block my number and he was okay with that. I haven't called yet, mostly because of the lack of privacy with my DD14 around. I didn't want her to know I was chatting with someone online so everytime I heard her coming into the room I would go to another tab I was viewing (IV SM&D board, I'm behind on everyone's posts again). It was very annoying. So now I don't know when to call him. I'm alone during my lunch hour but am not sure if he would be at work and would be busy. Maybe I'll have some privacy time tonight.

I see that webcams are prevalent technology (note the YouTube phenomenon) and to see the other person in real time lets the person know that what they look like for real rather than a 10 year old glamour shot or even worse yet, someone else.

Ok I wonder whether this is a male female difference. None of my gf's are ok with the immediate webcam invite. It is creepy to me because you DONT know who is ( or what is!!!!) going to appear when you say yes. I know this is going to make me sound old and not techy but I just think what it boils down to is that if I DID see a naked body part right as I accepted the webcam invite, I dont think I could recover from it and go on with the rest of my day without seeing it flash on and off in my head. I am too sensitive for the webcam flashed possibility maybe.... And I actually have a cam here that hooks up for me to use with ichat on my mac and I love it because I can talk to all of my family on it. Very useful. Just wouldnt have ever used it when I was dating before I met my bf!

When I met current BF (on POF) he did the same thing, within a few minutes of chatting and exchanging some laughs, he asked if I wanted to see his webcam. My initial reaction was "great, this pervert is gonna try to whack off for me on the webcam sheesh" LMAO but it wasn't like that at all. His reason for it, when I asked much later on, was almost identicle to what Mark explained. He said he was just jumping in, putting it out there who he was, what he was looking for and not wasting time on the long drawn out emails and such and he said he figured I'd either like what he had to offer or not. Now truth be told, his forwardness ALMOST scared me away, but in the end totally won me over because I was so not the same way LOL He helped me open up more and not be quite so apprehensive!

I hope you find some quiet time to call him! Sounds like a good prospect!

I would have thought the same thing as you! And what a relief that your BF is a mountie and a nice guy. I guess guys will love their gadgets.

I would probably not like the idea of a webcam - but might answer back with something to the effect of - as long as you are not a flasher!
