Weekend activities

I ran one of my annual races and finished 10 miles in an hour and 17 minutes and placed 2nd in the women 30-39 group and placed 28th overall out of 82. I'm psyched. I also beat my time by a minute and a half from last year.

Yesterday biked 10 miles through some TOUGH country roads. I took the loop in the wrong direction so it was all uphill. Great leg work I'll tell ya!

Woohooo! That's great! Way to go girl! I wish I had that kind of endurance. I spent the weekend surfing. My body is baked to a shade of red I've NEVER seen before and I have board surf rash on my stomach from the wax. I put my shirt on too late. My body hurts today from swimming against the strong current, but it felt GREAT to be out on the waves.

Wow.. you are a monster! AND a single mom?! awesome!

I got to get out to do flat water, river kayaking. Big step after being off ANY sort of exercise for 3 months because of my sciatica. It was nice to feel my body and the physical fatigue afterwards.

Your run is faster than mine. Congrats on the great placing and the hardware!!

On Saturday I biked 35 miles and on Sunday I biked 53 then ran for 40 minutes.

Totally, absolutely impressed. Have you always been active ie. a runner/athlete or is this something new for you.

Curious as I would love to see if I could push myself to do something like this! How do you start out?

Haven't always been athletic, but I've always enjoyed biking and walking and then after having kids got into aerobics and weight lifting and then started running about six years ago. I started out doing this YWCA program called "Run for Fun". It was a six week program where they do weight training with you and put you on a running schedule with the goal of doing a 5K after 6 weeks. AFter the program ended I kept up the running and have done half marathons.
