Ok, so things seem really positive for me right now. I'm happy!
These meetup.com group things are so COOL! I love them! I feel like I can REALLY be me.
Their are a few guys that I have met that just learn about the real me and it's not a date and it's not trying to impress anyone. It's really all about making friends. I have made some really nice girlfriends and we just have a great time.
I went to one last night and their were a couple of new guys I really liked. What I thought was nicer is that they contacted me today to say they enjoyed my very open, honest and sometimes shocking demeanor. LOL.
I enjoyed the different poeple. Different poeple that I might not meet online because they are searching for a "specific" criteria that I may not fit. This way they are more open to me, because they do not know anything about me and want to find out. Either I'll be a turn off or they might think it's worth getting to know me or they might think: Wow, this woman is the right one for me.
Therefore, if I decide to date again, I think I'm going to go through it by meet.ups and not so much online. Online is just getting old for me. I'm tired of it and I am now one of the organizers for the Charlotte Meetup Groups, so that makes it even more fun.

Way kewl to hear about your MeetUp experience and that you are an official organizer as well.

I truly believe in being myself regardless if I'm on a date or not. I have noticed that my *expectations* are different though.

Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes it is hard for me to feel myself because I feel like it's more like an interview process and you never know WHAT is going to be asked.

However, when I am at a meetup, I just goof off and talk about anything and everything that isn't personal. Does that make sense?

I believe the difference in being in a group versus a date is that in a date the focus is that we each want to get to know each other. In a group, the focus is on the activity and we get to know each other that way rather than Q&A.

Good for you. I'm a member of a meetup group as well. Unfortunately I haven't really participated. Everything is always happening when I have my kids and I haven't really wanted to get a sitter because money had been so tight. Maybe I should think about it sounds like it can be as much fun as it looks.

I noticed that Raleigh-Durham has a HUGE meetup group. BTW, I may end up getting in the car tonight; still leaving it open, you might get a call afterall.

It is huge but I think the most active parts of it are the 40's and 50's crowd. They often have 60+ people at their events. Since I'm not yet forty I don't think I'd fit. the 30's and 40's group is less active but still pretty good. I just have to get out there.
