never do if you were married?
See if you can name at least 3 things - and certainly MORE is better!! I was hoping this could be a fun and positive thread to celebrate our singledom. Maybe some of it is in reference to the stifled state I had when married to my exh - so I guess it is relative to him and maybe not all husbands or men or spouses in general.
- bought 2 puppies at the same time. Slept with them in the bed! LOL!!! Well, just for few days until they got too frisky but then they had to go in the crate in DS's room
- redecorated the house in MY colors and took on special projects with the kitchen since I love to cook
- signed up for an Ironman
- dumped all the frumpy clothes and went wild with a new and younger collection. Goodbye Ann Taylor, hello Abercrombie! LOL!!
- got rid of the newspaper - always have hated those and the memory of exh reading it - bye bye - I read the WSJ and CNN online
- took XMIL off the Xmas list - instead of spending money on a husband and inlaws for Xmas I spend it all on DS and me - and you know what? I always get what I want!!!!!! No returns or regrets!!
- I am the only one accessing the checking account so it balances to the penny in 10 minutes flat - no surprises
- took a camping vacation and slept in a tent - there are few men my age who would do that
- took a Europe vacation and rented a tiny studio with a kitchen just for me and DS
- have really relished the one on one time with DS - although he is outgrowing me now - his social life is like WOW -

This is great!!!
Other things...
Money - I can spend it on anything i want.... i don't need preapproval nor do i have to sacrifice for his new purchase. And i dont' have to explain where every dollar went....
I can sign my name on stuff - (my ex said, i was never to sign my name on something unless he preapproved it...)
I can be INDECISIVE or i can make a decision.... or I can get twenty opinions and go with my own anyway...
Church - i can go to the Saturday night service... or change my mind and go to the Sunday morning service / eve service or all three or none at all....
I can buy 007 playing cards and drool over Pierce Brosnan...lol
I have my own Blockbuster online membership and can rent whatever movie i feel like (i throw in movies for the kids too)... but i don't have to watch scary slasher movies.....
i'm sure i'll think of more tomorrow!!!!
Loonybunny
One more thing that I should have listed, and is by far my FAVORITE part about not being married anymore.
I've can use MY name - not his (I took my maiden name back!) YEA!!!
I always thought this way, too.
Luckily, I found someone who doesn't expect me to cater to his every demand, and actually encourages me to continue living my life the way I see fit.
I believe we can all find this person, and since we're used to doing it all on our own, we're better equipped at making a smart decision regarding dating now.

1. exotic dance classes
2. getting a second degree
3. deciding what my family will have for dinner
4. making all the interior design decisions
5. buying clothes (or whatever else) whenever I feel like it and limiting my spending because of my own personal limits, not because my jerk husband is going to freak out that I went shopping.
6. hanging pictures the minute I want to instead of waiting six months for him to use a laser level and be all anal about it.
7. having personal time two weekends a month and two nonconsecutive weeks in the summer...100% just mine to be spent however I want!
LOVE IT!!!
minus one (I hate having to pay people top dollar to do stuff around my house that my ex would have done a great job on (i.e. plumbing, electrical work, building shelves, hanging blinds, etc...)

1. I grew my hair out. I just didn't have time to mess with long hair when I was married.
2. I have been to Vegas, France and on a Caribbean Cruise!
3. I have complete and total control of the remote!!
4. I don't ever have to worry about what kind of mood someone is in when I get home or the house being a wreck.
5. Started my own part time business doing medical billing. It is doing fairly well!
6. I can go out with my friends or to a movie that I WANT to see!
7. I don't have to worry about someone maxing out the credit cards!
I could go on and on, but those are the ones that came to mind! Most of the time I do enjoy being single. I was married for 21 years, so I like being completely in charge!
Great topic...I'm just now finding it
1. Get a dog
2. Dance wildly with abandon at concerts (and anywhere else)
3. Workout more
4. Do more things I want to do with my children - take them out to see/experience different things
5. Grow a mustache, goatee and shave my head
6. Eat whatever I want ... now I'm a veg-aquarium and eat healthier
7. Have my own space. At my own home I did not have a place where I could retreat to for privacy and reflection
