never do if you were married?
See if you can name at least 3 things - and certainly MORE is better!! I was hoping this could be a fun and positive thread to celebrate our singledom. Maybe some of it is in reference to the stifled state I had when married to my exh - so I guess it is relative to him and maybe not all husbands or men or spouses in general.
- bought 2 puppies at the same time. Slept with them in the bed! LOL!!! Well, just for few days until they got too frisky but then they had to go in the crate in DS's room
- redecorated the house in MY colors and took on special projects with the kitchen since I love to cook
- signed up for an Ironman
- dumped all the frumpy clothes and went wild with a new and younger collection. Goodbye Ann Taylor, hello Abercrombie! LOL!!
- got rid of the newspaper - always have hated those and the memory of exh reading it - bye bye - I read the WSJ and CNN online
- took XMIL off the Xmas list - instead of spending money on a husband and inlaws for Xmas I spend it all on DS and me - and you know what? I always get what I want!!!!!! No returns or regrets!!
- I am the only one accessing the checking account so it balances to the penny in 10 minutes flat - no surprises
- took a camping vacation and slept in a tent - there are few men my age who would do that
- took a Europe vacation and rented a tiny studio with a kitchen just for me and DS
- have really relished the one on one time with DS - although he is outgrowing me now - his social life is like WOW -

After reading everyone's post I wanted to post something very unique. Then I would start to do so and someone else would come up with it. But now I have come up with THE one unique thing:
I DON'T HAVE TO DECORATE MY HOUSE WITH TOY TRACTORS!
What a group of people we are, so alike, but yet unique too!
Emma
I could leave in the evenings to pursue my own interests.
You win for unique response factor!
Lemme tell ya....it took some imagination to do it! Small ones, big ones, medium sized ones and all in colors of John Deere Green, International Red, Ford Blue and few funky orange and tan ones trimmed in red. And to tie all that in with the other stuff he collected, drove me nuts! And the dusting was a terrible job. To this day my house is almost bare.
I remember not too long after I left I was shopping and walked into a store that had huge display of John Deere stuff, dishes, canisters and what not.....I almost puked!!! LOL

I'm sure many of mine are the same as others...
1) make whatever the kids and I want for dinner without having to listen to complaints from someone not willing to fix it.
2) not worry about making too much noise in the morning and waking someone up and getting screamed at (after all the kids and I had to get up get ready and be out of the house before he ever rolled out to bed and never got home before him)
3) Have my hair as long or short as I like and not have to hear any complaints.
4) Not have to be told there is something wrong with me because I didn't want to have sex with someone that stinks from working outside, hasn't showered all day and is drunk (but I was just cold and there was something wrong with me, GROSS!!!)
5) Knowing that although money is tight I don't have to worry that someone spent more than there was and now I can't buy groceries or a check will bounce. I get to set the budget and decide who gets what. I'd rather my kids enjoy their life and eat PB&J...
The possibilities are endless.....
