When they are with your ex or someone else watching them?

I'm having an issue with my ex.

Just an idea - can you help her make better choices at the fast food places or request something better? Or is it a case of she thinks this is a treat and you don't like dealing with the aftermath?

My DS borders from good homemade meals for dinner to absolute junk on his own for breakfast - poptarts and donuts kind of thing.

I over look it and feed him good here - he is here mostly. And we eat really good those times.

I like the idea of seeing if she will choose something healthier when they go out to eat. If I can get her to chose the salads or grilled chicken or something. That is a good idea!

West's idea is brilliant.

You can go online and see what they have - for example - at McDonald's a plain hamburger is actually a better choice than a fish or chicken sandwich - and they also offer side salads, apple slices, juice, fruit/nuts and yogurt - all pretty good. The fried stuff, large sodas and large burgers with cheese is what is problematic. I know that DS always gets a belly ache when he loads up on fatty stuff from there. And I have been known to go through McD's on occasion after a long swim - but always pick healthy stuff.

That's true about Wendy's...he takes her there but she's been getting burgers (although she does opt for the manderine oranges and apple juice options). I will make the suggestion to her tht she look at the grilled chices and the yummy salads :o)

She has always been a fantasticlly healthy (by choice) eater. She's one of those strange kids who loves broccoli and green beean, and eats veggies before anything else. I've been blessed... but her dad's influance has been giving her the taste for the bad stuff :o(

I'll keep encouraging her to pick the good stuff- I guess that really all I can do from my standpoint. And you're right- it will certainly have to come from her. If I were to make a suggestion to him it would go over life a lead balloon...

thanks for the advice!

Another plug for Wendy's is that they have baked potatoes. And their fried food is trans-fat free - that is one of the only fast food places to date that made the switch with the oils.

If he must continue to take my DD to fast food I'll keep recommending Wendys (they like it). In and Out (so cal based chain) is just one block from his house so I know that's why he goes there....but it has nothing healthy on the menu.

If I had my way he would cook ..non processed, balanced

I agree with everyone else...having her make the different choices and talking to her daddy about it.

I'm lucky! My ex is a personal trainer and triathlete so he eats well. My dis a dancer so she eats well, my son is
