I'm on a huge positive trip lately. Very well balanced, very happy. Getting things organzined moving along into my happy mode. Here is a list of things I have done for myself lately. Lately to me means in the 7 days...
I organized the house entirely. Dumped things I just didn't need and threw away clutter and made a list of things we did need.
I finally bought myself a few new tops. I never go clothes shopping because I feel guilty for wanting something nice and maybe taking that away from the children. But I bought some great items for 5-15 a piece and spent exactly $75. I haven't done that in about a year.
I have taken time to put make-up on and now that my hair is really short, I just gel and go. I feel so much better and much more attractive.
I bought new things for the home to make it more homely and warmer. Spent under a $100 and got new dresser drawers for the children and loads of candles for the house (a dozen + a 100 tiny tea one's). I put them all on last night and it smelt sooo wonderful (cider, vanilla, honeysuckle).
Things I have done that didn't include money. Sitting in the bathtub with candles all around and just reading while I listen to soft music and drink a glass of lambrusco.
So what have you done for yourself?

I got a massage and a facial.
All of these are purchases but that is a big step for me as I tend to never buy things that make ME happy... I always tend to spend the extra money on my children or activities with others.
I finally decided that it was "ok" to purchase some of the furniture pieces that I need for my new home. I had been holding off until I was able to save the money but we simply need a table and chairs to sit at for family meals (been sitting the kids at a plastic play table and just standing myself) and I need an entertainment stand to house our TV (get it up off of the floor) and all the DVD's etc that go with it! Those two purchases mean that I can organize my house and make it feel more like a "home".
Next I have to get my pictures and artwork hung on the walls and we will be good to go.
I cashed in some of the points I have on a credit card (I tend to never use the points and would have otherwise spent more money!) to purchase some much needed small appliances such as a vacume cleaner, toaster and crock pot.
...and...I have also purchased a new Christmas tree (ebay) in anticipation of the holidays and knowing it will be hard to part with the money come Nov/Dec.
Strangely these items have brought some peace and contentment and calm to my life.....

Weird stuff... but it's all for me.
Since the kids have been gone to their Dad's, I've been geocaching my little heart out! (read about it at geocaching.com) It's an activity that is pretty much just for the fun of it. I don't make money doing it, I don't get anything to keep by doing it(as in buying stuff or winning prizes), I get only alot of entertaining fun. :-) My dad loves it, too- so we've been caching together alot and it's been a good thing for us, after losing Mom. It's kept us busy and gets us out of the house. And the area has a geocaching group that we are now a part of (since last year) and that helps us get out and with other people as well. Finding caches is fun, and hiding new ones is fun as well. I know- it's geeky, but that's me. :-)
I've also bought new underwear and lingerie and stuff from Victoria's Secret. I tell ya- my underwear drawer has been needing an update in too long! But now I have stuff that I don't mind showing off. hehe Not to mention the lingerie being totally fun for Hiker and I.
I bought myself some new dumbbells. Now I'm no longer trying to build muscle with the measely 10-lb'ers that used to be the heaviest I had! Now I can at least max out with the 15 and 20-lb ones too!
Indulged some more with some craft projects recently... even though I still have many unfinished one in the works. :-P But it's my little addiction, so leave me alone about it! lol
I got a perm. Though I'm not really happy with it because my hair is so thick, I really do need 2 boxes to fully drench it all. But I forgot to ask them for 2, (and didn't realize it was actually long enough to require 2 boxes again already)- so they used one box of solution... and now you can't hardly tell it was even recently permed. I know- I could go back in and have them redo it- but I hate frying my hair that way and I just don't want to put it through all that again! So I will just let it lie. And next time I feel the need to perm it, I will for sure remember to ask for 2 boxes of solution.
I've been treating myself with some ice cream lately too- but that's starting to backfire. I'm getting HIPPY again! Auuggh!! But that will go away as soon as I crank up the workout schedule. AFTER this dreaded TX heat dies back down though. Maybe it's the heat that is making me want to indulge in the ice cream so much?!?? Ah well...

There is nothing better than shopping and retail therapy I tell you!!!!!!
I found this neat boutique in the mall and they had these cute tiny clips with crystals on them on sale - the lady showed me 5 or 6 new ways to pin up my hair. I also cleaned out the garage and my closet and my bathroom and office.
And I got new dishes. The old ones were really chipped and the new ones were on this incredible sale - like 88% off and they are gorgeous. I am on a kick where we use small plates - got a variety of them to mix and match. You put less food on smaller plates and they fit so much better everywhere and handle better. I think I got the idea from my Mediterranean cooking class where all we made was small dishes. Bye bye big busters! LOL!!
And yesterday I decided NOT to follow my workout from my coach because it was so so so hot out and so I didn't feel like hammering hard for hours and hours so ignored his paper, rode my bike for fun and then took the dogs to the park and proceeded to walk and run with them. They are fun running buddies.
DS is back from his week away at camp now - so I am back on task - "MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMY" - you know how THAT goes!!
Last night - with laudry that needed attention and a kitchen floor that needed mopping, I sat on the terrace with a cup of tea and my iPod and just relaxed with the idea of all my new exciting changes.
This weekend, I've got a girls day with some friends window shopping, lunching and getting a mani/pedi.
Every day - YOGA!
Nice idea for a thread, Cat.
I have been working very hard for myself, so I am tired, but feeling good.
**I consolidated the debt on my credit cards to a lower rate and cut most of my cards in half and closed the accounts
** I bought a new old car (1973 VW Squareback) from a former FWB who sold it for a song to me.
** I traded in my obnixious noisy pellet stove for a beautiful HUGE wood stove
** Today I finished building a stone hearth for the wood stove. Ugh. I am tired and hot.
** Bought 3 cords of firewood.
** Came up with a better structured system of consequences for my 8yo son who is for the first time becoming terribly defiant. (NO MOM, I WON"T CLEAN MY ROOM, GO AWAY!!) I guess he's half his dad, eh?!
** Went bra shopping with the BF.
**Ate vegetarian for two weeks.
